Chapter 15 - slavery

The void was such a bizarre place. At some point, it was dangerous and at another time, it was just annoying.

Ken was traveling in such a place.

He had been trying to locate where he's at in the real world. Sometimes 1 foot in void could be equal to 1 mile in the real world and sometimes 1 millimeter in void equals 400 meters in the real world.

Actually, Ken wasn't sure either about the exact distance, he just had not closed the space crack he came from so he could see where it was.

And the solution was actually really simple which he had just realized, which was to place something special he would remember and then move to another place through the void. Why something special? Because if it's not special like rocks and rivers, he would just go to a random places with rocks and rivers on them. But if he uses something special, He could come back to that place again through the void by remembering that something special.

Inconvenient as it may be but he was still a human, he couldn't tell apart which rock or tree he would remember.

In this case, what he used as something special is... a smartphone that had no motherboard. It was the model that he used back before he was transmigrated for the first time. He doesn't know how a motherboard works so he didn't make any smartphone, he also believed that magic or element may be able to do more than just a mere phone without a signal.

He buried that phone in a sturdy concrete that he made and planted it in the soil.

"Alright, now that it's done, I can finally go"

He opened a space crack and flew inside.

Somewhere above a huge forest, a man appeared from nowhere.

He wore a mask that only showed his cold eyes. He had floating arms wielding a variety of weapons, revolving vertically around him while his own arms were folded in front of his chest.

He started flying up, high before the clouds.

There he looked down upon the land below him.

The winds that had been steady started blowing, as if it shows the emotions of that man.

He squinted his eyes and said, "Looks like there will be fun".

Exitting the void, Ken found himself on the side of a dirty side road.

"Wonder where this is", he thought as he flew up to view it widely.

It looks like a different plain, it was such a reddish place where volcanoes are raging everywhere.

"Well then it looks like a bad place to be in", he uttered. Just as he was going to enter the void again, a shady city caught his eyes. Remembering the 2 captives in his storage space He pondered.

"Or maybe not", as he closed the space crack and flew to that city.

Flying there, Ken noticed alot of people down there. He was also pleasantly surprised at the fact that they weren't of the same race. For instance, there were a half fish, there were also green skinned men, and some walking... rock? Well, it's not like he got no idea what they were.

Landing at the entrance he noticed alot of things that made that shady feeling a lot more real, like a lot of caged people, the reeking blood smell, screaming voices, and the most important of all, the city sign that said "SLAVETRADE CITY". Very apparent shady feeling indeed.

"Wow, this is allowed? I guess learning culture is as important as learning language in a new place. Not that I have to worry about the latter anyway.

Walking along the road, there were a variation of weird cars that were waiting in line to enter the city, of course the entrance for people are also crowded.

"Hey, no cutting", one of the various races there shouted to Ken that were leisurely walking to the entrance, not bothering to line. This attracted the attention of people that instantly glare at Ken, seemingly putting a pressure

"Hey, didn't you hear him? NO CUTTING THE LINE! YOU DEAF OR WHAT?", one of the semigiant there rose his voice at Ken and was going to throw a punch.

Not bothering to face him, Ken rose his hand and instantly turned him to dust. Seeing this, the people that were glaring at him instantly turned away after breaking a cold sweat.

It's not the fact that Ken killed somebody, or the fact that somebody died that made them scared. These people lived in the world where power rules all, the weirdness of this world had made them numb to unexplained things, that's why they could only be sensitive about the things that were endangering them.

Ken was the epitome of that, in that split second there, those people felt what it means to feel despair, the aura that he exuded was too strong.

But in the end, they're just mere merchants, The Guards on the other hand..

"Speak, what is your need"

"..., why.."

"Is there a problem sir?"

"No, just.. is kneeling before a stranger the custom here?", Ken said to the guards that were kneeling to him.

"Ahahah of course not, we're just doing a little extra for the great sir", another guard spoke.

Scratching his head, Ken decided to just act up.

"Well then... what are y'all waiting for, one of you lead me to the best market here and the rest fk off"

"Sir yes sir", they shouted as they got up and did what was told. One of them went to him,

"My name is oliver, sir! I will be your guide today, so where are we going?"

Looking at the brown guy in a suit of armor in front of him Ken wondered.

"mhm, what are you supposed to be?"

"I'm sorry, what do you mean sir?"

"Your race"

"Ah, I'm a nature golem sir"

"I see, well then I wanna go to..", Ken then thought about where to go.. It's Slavetrade City so naturally it has to be..

"The slave market"

"Right away sir"

Perhaps it's because he was a golem, the way there was just so boring. Lazy as he is, Ken just decided to float instead of walking.

The city was quite large with a lot going on of course, for example, slaves. It's not their existence that made him wonder, it's their very poor, even almost deadly condition. In many stories he read, although the slaves were treated not as a human, their physical condition wasn't very bad... at least not all. The slaves here though, it's as if looking at something not even alive, none of the slaves he had seen in this city have complete limbs.

Ken was disgusted. As a human, looking at gore things made him feel disgusted. No fear though, even he was surprised.

One thing that was remarkable was the attitude of the pedestrians. None of them seem to be bothered, maybe because they're not human, or maybe because it's their everyday life. What's even weirder than that, was that they're amused by the way Ken float. It's expected they're used to magic, but.. they're not?

Other than that, the streets were organized. Fitting the traffic in that place, with a wide 2 way main street and a small sidewalk. The street alone took almost half of the whole city if he guessed right.

"We have arrived sir", the guard said as they arrived in front of a giant building.

"Ah oh we have arrived... where were we going?", Ken snapped out of his daze.

"Uhh the best slave market.. wasn't that what you wanted?"

"Oh yeah of course. Thanks for showing the way"

"Then, excuse me", the guard said as a farewell and returned to his post.

"Let's see then", Ken muttered as he entered the inner market area.

Entering the inner area, it looks clean as a hotel lobby with many people going around. He then went to the front desk where the reception was. Despite having quite a few lines, it was still crowded.

Ken wasn't floating at the time, because he thought that it would be impolite inside a building, but even then, he felt that people were looking at him strangely which he soon realize was because of his crappy clothing.

Not minding it while he walked to the reception, he bumped into someone, no, he was bumped into by someone.

"Tch, even ordinaries dare to enter this place huh", the guy mocked as he walked by.
