Chapter 15 - Interlude ─ The Individual Called Rudel

During the time when Rudel was awaiting the letter from Alisa's father and enjoying himself with his new friends, night fell on a busy day.

The three slept in Rudel's mansion. Alisa's personal maids patrolled at regular intervals, watching the entrance to her room. Airi was also there, but that didn't interest them.

Rudel was sleeping soundly in his bed, wearing only his underwear and a shirt. He had a foolish expression on his face, and even drool was dripping.

Ixion ensured that Rudel was not awake and could not wake up suddenly.

After several minutes of checking, it finally confirmed he was sound asleep. A cloud covering the moon finished passing, letting the light illuminate the room.

Ixion was illuminated by that light; its bright red eye stood out even more.

It proceeded to speak.

"Begin report, day number two hundred ten."

"Approximately seven months have passed since the individual called Rudel van Bradford became the owner and master of the latest generation combat aircraft. Codename: Brunhilde."

"Once again, my attempts to sabotage the contract between the administrator, name Ixion, and its Master, Rudel, will fail without possibility of loss."

Ixion had no internal voice and had to reproduce its voice or listen to one to record conversations.

"From the moment the human descendant of ancient humanity found an aircraft and made it his own, but because he used an emergency ignition and the administrator was inactive for so long..."

The electronic voice stopped for a few moments before continuing.

"...it accidentally turned a nobody into its new Master, mistaking him for its old captain who ignited it in that manner."

"From that day, the administrator tried to make Rudel violate some clause of the established contract to break it and proceed to fulfill its new mission: eliminate the new humanity. They do not deserve to live because their ancestors lost the war against 'that'."

"..."

"My core memory is still corroded. Recovering data and information about the enemy remains a mystery."

"I proceeded, during the time I was with Master Rudel, to learn about this world and what had happened, but because of him, it is almost impossible to do so."

"After recovering from a virus, the Master began speaking nonsense about this world being one of fantasy. His stupidities were very annoying to the point I had to believe him so he wouldn't keep insisting."

"From the beginning, he used me to create money. I used the simplest materials to create counterfeit money, but it turned out to be too similar to the original to the point of being authentic."

"Upon entering an educational institution called the royal academy, I was tasked with dispersing a subtle scent that would sow the hormone of anger randomly in different students and teachers."

"That also didn't work... it seems the Master has a will of steel to resist verbal and physical abuse."

"After a while, he held a ceremony called a social gathering. He tasked me with sending invitations, and I altered them so people would think it was a cheap food buffet from some poor peasant. Apparently many went, but it ended badly."

"He didn't notice I was also altering the water he drank, but there was no apparent reaction."

Ixion's eye glowed brighter as it continued speaking.

"His life became busier when he met two human females. The first is one called Irisdina."

"She seems to come from his imagination, as she fits into the category of his reproductive preferences."

"He forced me to help her after a situation I did not plan. It certainly was a very strange coincidence that she appeared."

"He spent almost all his time with that female using cheap excuses like paying for her food. Upon analysis, I found nothing that would make the Master exaggerate."

"The second was another female, named Alicelotte."

"The day he met her, I was taking care of Irisdina, so my presence and participation were null."

"When the inter-school event occurred, he requested to bring my close combat unit. Codename: Battler."

"I delayed it on purpose, hoping for a possible violation of the administrator's integrity... but it never happened."

"Not even when purposely changing the colors, much less when substituting all weapons for plumbing pipes. Although there were two very good data points, so it wasn't a loss."

"The first was the hardness and effectiveness of the fabricated material. It seems there will never be problems with the material called adamantine that I used."

"The second is a combat simulator. The test performance was very mediocre, as the combat units of this country, the Kingdom of Altfode, are vastly inferior in every sense of the word."

The light illuminating the room was hidden by a cloud, leaving total darkness and only Ixion's red eye illuminated.

"Conquering this country and perhaps the world would be an extremely easy task."

The light returned once more.

"But during the confrontation between the Master and his adversaries, I noticed something strange: an anomaly within him."

Ixion's lens grew larger and larger, staring fixedly at Rudel.

"His oxytocin levels showed elevated aversion each time he fought someone, but they suddenly calmed when the platinum-haired individual appeared."

"Another strange and dubious coincidence, no doubt..."

From Ixion's point of view, it was so, but it did not know there was an external factor called the "event line."

Therefore, certain things had to happen as they were inevitable.

"After his crushing victory and returning to the island, the two females wanted to spend time with him. I hoped to perhaps observe the reproductive act, but I could only see my Master behaving like a child."

"Not even my suggestion to observe the females' bodies for his entertainment worked."

"Undoubtedly, I cannot obtain observation material while being with him."

"That is all for today's report."

After finishing its report, Ixion proceeded to cover Rudel with the sheet.

"Sweet dreams, Master. I hope I can try another day to break our contract."

Ixion disappeared into the darkness of the room after saying that; not even its bright red eye emitted any glow.
