Buren then said " This is excellent training for you guys to show Lord Niles what you can do with an unknown opponent" Everyone looked at him readying their weapons Buren then continued " What you looking at go" the students then left the confines of the carts and slowly started surrounding the bird like beast getting into optimal positions.
When Buren said this Niles knew if he took action this would end quickly based on his stats right now so he decided not to intervene with this as it was truly a great opportunity to see the students that Buren has trained deal with an unknown threat.
Yore charged towards the bird like beast and instantly steadied himself to cut through one of the birds legs which the bird lifted its feet to avoid injury which then Purt threw one of his daggers towards the creature's eyes in hope of blinding it impairing its vision.
Both smiled thinking that they were gonna get the first blow was met with a blow to their ego which the creature stamped its feet down causing the sword in Yore's hand to forcefully be dragged downwards and out of his hands and the sword hit the floor underneath the bird creature's foot. Seeing this Yore was about to retreat, not taking the chance of fighting without a weapon.
The Bird creature instantly like a spring cocked its head back and thrust its beak at Yore's head which Yore shifted his head and barrel rolled escaping death with a minor headwound from the narrow dodge
Purt's attack was even more paltry as the bird creature used its jagged beak to block it and doing so you could hear the metal tune of two pieces of metal hitting each other after it dealt with Yore's attempt.
The attack wasn't finished though as Ril and Gise fired 1 arrow each towards centre mass while it was distracted at the creatures body, the creature instantly turns it head and grabs the arrows with its beak and gave the girls a look of fury with its eyes locking on like pinholes and flung them aside.
The girls were preparing to fire another shot when It arched its head again then spat out the seed fragments towards the girls which Buren then shielded them with his axes. It screeched at them in annoyance looking at its failure in bringing down the creatures it saw as pests.
Then he spoke " First lesson when you face something the first time is what" Buren then looked towards his students then Purt answered " Try to figure out its attack pattern" Purt then circled around the bird creature to grab back his dagger that was on the ground.
Buren then said " What's the next lesson then when facing an unknown opponent for the first time"
Garet then rushed forward with a thrust of his spear while the bird was eyeing Purt who circled around its backside after grabbing his dagger. Then Garet said " Try to aim for vulnerable areas when your opponent is distracted" while saying that the creature leapt towards Garet with its sharp feet aiming for his chest which caused him to stop mid thrust to hold his spear horizontally to block.
The creature stood on the spear with its full weight and Garet unable to bear it shifted his spear vertically to have the bottom touch the ground to leverage himself under the creature weight training to free his weapon, but with the creatures feet gripping onto the spear like a vice grip it was impossible with his current strength.
With this new foothold and close proximity to Garet the creature struck at his head with its beak for a kill shot which Garet dodged two of such attempts and he was ready to let go of the spear but then the creature shifted its foot to trap his hand underneath it.
Garet seeing this was trapped and was going to try to use his other hand to attack to have the creature release his hand but it kept on striking at his head giving him no leeway to come out but just as this was going on Purt ran to the back of the creature and spun on his heel for a dual dagger slice which due to the bird creature being distracted by Garet left two gashes on the back of its neck which caused it to shriek.
Purt already ran from it and also kicked back the sword that was left on the ground back to Yore which got back into a battle stance.
It instantly leapt in the air letting go of Garet's trapped hand which had red marking on it and then it curled its feather and cocking its head back , It's feathers started to glow and it looked like it was going to spit something but Gise and Ril already took aim and released their arrows both piercing its body but this didn't stop its attack.
While this happened NIles was watching this as if it was some scene in an action movie to which he was to do something scared about it being an instant kill move by the bird creature was then stopped by Buren who blocked him with his hand.
Buren then spoke loudly " The third rule" to which as this was heard Purt and Yore instantly separated then Yore spoke " If the enemy is using a new attack pattern scatter, run and defend then reposition once the attack is over" Buren smiled at this.
The creature seeing that the two separated decided to aim at the one that hurt it then spat out seed fragments which with a flap of its glowing wings shot out like sniper bullets and hail from above to which he dodged some making his way behind a tree but still got hit in the leg which was pierced.
Purt thought to himself 'Gosh dang my leg but looking at the pits formed in the ground I'm lucky it only took a chunk out of my leg'.
The creature was ready to launch another attack on Purt which would kill him but Garet with his good hand threw his spear at the creature which pierced it but not too deep due to using his non-dominant hand and caused it to stagger in the air for a few seconds .
Buren then said " Step four" which Ril and Gise then said together "when facing an unknown opponent always Keep up the momentum to make the opponent unable to retaliate". They said this when they both did a rapid shot and shot two extra arrows each into the creature which caused it to be knocked down.
It the cocked its head back looking towards them both while charging at them ready to shoot more fragments but then Buren smiled and said " The fifth step" which Yore then to the side charged over slid across while twisting his body and to swing his sword in a power charged slash from the side aiming at its neck.
The creature though seeing this was surprised and aimed towards him put staggered a bit tripping like someone tied its legs but it could be seen that Purt came from behind the tree from his cover during the creatures mad dash at Ril and Gise and did a dagger throw at its legs which caused it to stagger.
The dagger pierced one of its legs which caused it to stagger and trip which allowed Yore to release his power slash using the single slash technique Iai which he steadied himself and released towards its neck in a fast movement and cut the creature's neck leaving a large gash.
The creature slid past him in the dirt tumbling over like a ragdoll to which when it past Yore he said " If met with an unknown opponent take them as soon as you can and quick as you can through any means"
Niles looked at them as if this was some sort of theater drama honestly with Yore's pose and everyone's serious face. Niles then thought ' I can understand why people say that when someone does something cool it's like they gain this kinda aura'.
Everyone regrouped and used the fairy flower paste on their wounds with Ril bandaging Purt's leg and Garets's arm and Gise bandaging Yore's head and which could be seen stopping the bleeding from their injuries and they even took some of the liquid version too for internal wounds incase.
Buren then puffed out his chest proud " You see Lord Niles nothing to worry about afterall we are training for any elite threats so pain will be a lesson to not make any minor mistakes again".
Niles hearing this just says " Right" as honestly he was scared and was going to intervene due to him feeling that it's too dangerous but now he knows he should put more trust into his people.
Just as everyone was discussing a shriek was heard which was by the same bird creature which had already got up and had its head almost cocked back which Niles was going to take care of but then Buren did something amazing.
He did a short run then jumped and did a downward helm splitter attack on the beast which caused it to collapse with two indentations where axes were then he said " Rule six make sure its dead or your the one going to be dead"
