Ash was slightly startled and turned his head to see Sword Maiden up close, almost nose-to-nose with him. Their warm breaths touched each other first, and Ash could see his own reflection in her sly eyes.
In a flash, Ash suppressed his instinct to dodge with his strong mental fortitude and simply stared back at her with wide eyes.
1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds—Sonia's egg-white cheeks began to blush like a faint mist, but she seemed to be getting into it, not blinking once as she locked eyes with Ash. She suddenly stuck out the tip of her pink tongue to lightly lick her lips, with a smile spreading across her upturned mouth, leaping over her cute cheeks and into her clear, large eyes, mixing with the tension in her pupils to create a chemical reaction that, like a virus entering through sight, made Ash almost want to laugh too.
