"No!" Mervyn protested, his voice almost breaking. "You can't do this to me! If I resign, everyone in the Headquarters will laugh at me!"
He desperately racked his brain for another way out before his eyes suddenly lit up.
"W-Wait! What if I offer you something else instead?"
Ryley raised a brow. "Such as?"
Mervyn's frantic gaze immediately shifted toward Mitchell before returning to Ryley.
"I'll promote him! I'll make Mitchell the Head Butler! That should be enough, right? I know you've been eyeing that position for him!"
Instead of answering, Ryley slowly turned to Mitchell.
"What do you think, Mitch?" he asked casually. "Interested?"
Mitchell nearly laughed at the suggestion, but quickly composed himself.
"I'm afraid not, Your Highness." He smiled politely. "I'm perfectly happy being your personal attendant. I don't really want any other position."
Ryley nodded in understanding before looking back at Mervyn with an innocent shrug.
