"Your lunch is ready."
I looked to my side, noticing a female waitress with long black hair setting our food on the table.
On one plate was a decently large chicken leg about as big as my forearm, and before me was a comically large sandwich stuffed to the brim with all kinds of meat, and a type of cheese throughout. Its aroma was almost enough to satiate a normal demon's appetite.
I finally looked back at Derieri and then she smiled at me and in response I smiled back.
'Moments like this are the best, just spending time with Derieri, enjoying the calmness.'
I began to eat my sandwich with elegance befitting of royalty, unlike my brothers.
"So Derieri, what are your favorite things to do?" I asked, taking a chunk out of the side.
"I'd have to say spending time with you and my sister would be my favorite thing to do. After that is hanging out with monspeet , then fighting and that's really it. How about you, Vessalius? What are your favorite things to do?" Derieri eagerly answered and returned.
"Hanging out with you is my favorite thing to do after that would probably be spending time with Zeldris. After that, I can't decide what I like more; reading a good book or fighting. Both are equally enjoyable."
"You're as much of a book worm as the day we first met. We were both going through the hall and we bumped into each other. I was so confused about why I fell, and that's when I saw you land perfectly on your feet after bumping into me. My interest was piqued, and all the while you had a book in your hands."
"I remember that time. It was a great memory, and then we talked about all kinds of things immediately, hitting it off straight away and after that we've just been hanging out talking and getting to know each other since then."
I took a few more bites out of my sandwich, chewed and then swallowed the food.
"Honestly ever since then my lifes just been so much better. You brightened up my once monotonous life."
Derieri was finishing up her chicken leg, and then continued.
"My life has only gotten better since you entered it. Peaceful moments like these are just so enjoyable when you're around, you know what I mean?"
"Yeah I do, everything seems so much more vibrant after hanging out with you, I honestly think I li-"
Door swinging open, one of the royal palace guards wearing dark spiky armor interrupted our meal, appearing in a hurry
"Prince Vessalius, the Demon King demands your presence right now; it is extremely urgent!"
Derieri sighed in mild annoyance and leaned her head into her right hand.
The guard then notices Derieri and looks frightened.
"I am so sorry, Miss Derieri. I didn't realize I was interrupting you."
'Are you kidding me? Of all the times my dad needs me, he has to interrupt me as I was about to confess my feelings. Damn these Angels. They will pay, that is for certain; the one time I don't want to fight, this happens.'
Changing my eyes back to blue and putting on a smile of pure fake bliss.
"Thank you so much for letting me know, I will be sure to go to the castle right this second; now, if there is any time to spare, might you give me a second to say goodbye to my friend?"
"O-of course prince Vessalius, I am deeply sorry for interrupting your date."
What the guard said made Derieri blush ever so lightly, but I decided to ignore it all for now.
"Derieri. I'll be back soon. Afterwards, we can continue our hang out or date or whatever you want to call it, what we do in the end, doesn't matter. What matters is we get to see each other, as well as enjoy our time together. That's all that mattered to me at least."
"I feel the same way, Vessalius. I can go to the castle and wait for you there and we can continue from where we left off when you're done."
"That sounds perfect to me, I'll try to hurry up with whatever father needs and we will skip some rocks at our favorite spot."
"Alright Vessalius, I look forward to being with you more."
I began to run back to the demon king's castle at a place slightly faster than the average human, keeping up the weak act to the other demon inhabitants. Always ignoring the stares of disdain towards me as I left Derieri; I knew how most of our people felt about me, not knowing my strength, to them I was nothing more than a mistake, as well as a disappointment.
[Ten minutes later]
I burst through the doors to the throne room and kneeled before my father.
"What is it that you need, father? I know you would never interrupt my time with Derieri without a good reason."
"You're right, Vessalius. It seems that the goddess clan is making bigger movements, perhaps in preparation for something. I believe if we don't nip these problems in the bud, we may have a problem within the next few years. I wish for you to massacre all the Angel's within twenty thousand meters from the capital."
"If you're fast enough, I'll allow Derieri to have the day off on her upcoming birthday, as well as allow you to go."
'Father always seems to reward me so generously. If I do this as fast as I can, I get to continue hanging out with Derieri and I get to spend the day with her on her birthday. This day has just gotten a whole lot better, and the best of it all I can make the Angels who interrupted my time with Derieri pay.'
My eyes turned crimson as a smile of pure happiness sketched over my normally emotionless face.
"Of course father, they'll be dead within the next two hours; I promise that much."
"Go now then. I want results as soon as possible."
The shadows from the room formed into a pair of magnificent wings attached by my upper back and then rushed out the castle doors and began to fly off outside of the capital as fast as I could, not wanting to make the angels wait too long for their massacre.
