Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Advice Her To Be Careful

"Hmm... I already know about that matter." Qiao Meixia nodded lightly, her expression remaining completely neutral and unbothered from beginning to end.

"You still need to be extremely careful, Meimei. This city is still their main territory, after all, and ruthless people like them do not take kindly to anyone disrupting their business operations." Yang Mingxia reminded her, her usually playful tone becoming unusually serious for once as she looked directly at her friend.

"Hmm..." Qiao Meixia responded calmly, showing not the slightest trace of fear, anxiety, or concern regarding the dangerous underworld politics.

At that exact moment, a polite yet hesitant knock on the private room door interrupted their conversation. After Yang Mingxia casually gave permission for the person to enter, the manager, a man dressed in a neat, well-tailored black suit, cautiously stepped inside. Originally, the man looked as though he wanted to speak urgently about a pressing matter. However, the very moment he recognised Yang Mingxia sitting there, he instantly froze in place, his urgency completely dissolving into anxiety.

"Miss Yang." The man immediately lowered his head respectfully, greeting Yang Mingxia with absolute reverence and caution.

"Yes? What is it? What do you want?" Yang Mingxia asked casually while leaning lazily against the plush cushions of the sofa, swirling her drink.

"We sincerely apologize for the unpleasant incident that happened earlier, Miss Yang. It was entirely our venue's negligence that allowed several rowdy customers to behave so rudely in front of you." The man apologised profusely, lowering his head even further to show his submission.

"I am perfectly fine. My friend already dealt with them quite thoroughly on my behalf, so you don't have to worry about a mess." Yang Mingxia said with a lazy, amused smile playing across her red lips.

The manager instinctively glanced toward Qiao Meixia after hearing those words, wondering what kind of powerhouse could effortlessly take down a group of men. However, because the lighting inside the private room was intentionally kept dim and shadowed for privacy, he could not clearly make out Qiao Meixia's appearance or features.

"So, do you have anything else important to say?" Yang Mingxia asked, her tone sharpening slightly after noticing that the man still had not dismissed himself.

"Oh... No, Miss Yang. I deeply apologise once again for disturbing your privacy. I will leave immediately. Please enjoy the rest of your night." The man bowed respectfully toward Yang Mingxia again before carefully stepping backwards out of the room.

"Hmm..." Yang Mingxia nodded casually before the heavy door closed once more, completely restoring the room's quiet privacy.

Standing outside in the dimly lit hallway, the man immediately released a huge, breathless sigh of relief, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead. He felt incredibly fortunate after realising that Yang Mingxia seemed to be in quite a forgiving and relaxed mood tonight. Those brainless idiots earlier had nearly caused him to lose his highly lucrative position because of their reckless behaviour. He definitely intended to track them down later and teach them a harsh lesson they would never forget.

Inside the room, the two women continued chatting and drinking quietly until ten o'clock at night. Well, to be more accurate about the dynamic, it was mostly Yang Mingxia doing all the talking and dramatic storytelling, while Qiao Meixia quietly sipped her drink and listened patiently to her friend's endless, rambling anecdotes.

"I am going back now." Qiao Meixia suddenly said, placing her empty glass down on the table.

"Okay... Okay... Let's go then. I will send you back personally on my bike." Yang Mingxia immediately offered, already reaching for her keys.

"No need. You already drank alcohol tonight. I have also contacted someone to come and take you home safely." Qiao Meixia stated calmly, her voice firm and brooking no argument.
