"Wife, I am in my own home! Do I really need to act so formal and stiff here?" Jiang Nianzu argued shamelessly, a mischievous glint in his eye.
"You are standing right in front of your niece and nephew. Do you not have any sense of shame at all?" Qi Meifeng asked, feeling utterly helpless against his antics.
"No. I most certainly do not." Jiang Nianzu answered without the slightest bit of hesitation.
Qi Meifeng finally sighed and released his ear.
"Whew... Fortunately, my ear is still attached to my head." Jiang Nianzu muttered dramatically, rubbing the reddened skin with a pitiful expression.
Qi Meifeng could only shake her head at her husband's perpetually shameless behaviour.
Jiang Nianzu then scanned the living room with a curious gaze, his expression quickly shifting to one of confusion.
"So, where is my new niece? I want to see her!" Jiang Nianzu finally asked directly.
He looked around the room carefully, but aside from the familiar faces of his brother's family, he did not spot anyone new. Even his parents were nowhere to be seen.
"She is upstairs with Mother and your daughter." Qi Meifeng replied.
Meanwhile, Qiao Meixia followed Old Madam Jiang up the grand staircase to a room on the second floor. Old Madam Jiang stopped in front of a beautifully carved door before pushing it open slowly to reveal the interior.
"Meixia... This is your room. You can stay here whenever you come to visit us, and it will always be waiting for you." Old Madam Jiang said kindly.
"Wow... Cousin, your room is so beautiful!" Jiang Fenfang exclaimed, her eyes wide as she looked around the space in genuine amazement.
Qiao Meixia stepped inside quietly, her sharp eyes carefully observing every detail. The room was a world apart from the one she had been given at her parents' house. This room was much more spacious and even featured its own private balcony.
Because of the large windows, plenty of natural sunlight streamed warmly into the room, illuminating the elegant decor. The bed looked incredibly large and comfortable, and there was a massive, high-end closet placed neatly against the far wall.
'What a waste of space.'
That was the very first thought that crossed Qiao Meixia's mind when she saw the enormous closet. She did not even own many clothes to begin with, so the idea of needing such a vast storage area seemed entirely unnecessary to her.
"Do you like it, Meixia?" Old Madam Jiang asked, her voice laced with expectation.
It was clear she was eager to receive even a small sign of approval from her granddaughter.
"Hmm..." Qiao Meixia nodded lightly, offering a soft acknowledgement.
Seeing even that small reaction, Old Madam Jiang's face immediately broke into a happy, relieved smile.
"If you are willing, you can spend the night here tonight. We would love to have you." Old Madam Jiang suggested warmly.
"I want to spend the night with my cousin, too! Please!" Jiang Fenfang immediately grabbed onto Qiao Meixia's arm, her face full of excitement.
She looked at Qiao Meixia with pleading, expectant eyes, waiting eagerly for her answer.
Faced with such overwhelming and genuine enthusiasm, Qiao Meixia eventually found herself nodding once again.
"Yay! I am going to have a sleepover in the same room as my new cousin tonight!" Jiang Fenfang jumped up and down, cheering in pure happiness.
Qiao Meixia watched the girl's exuberant reaction with a touch of confusion in her heart. She truly could not understand why the girl was reacting with such intense joy. To her, it was merely a simple arrangement for the night. She did not see anything particularly worth celebrating so loudly.
After showing her the room, Old Madam Jiang urged the two girls to head back downstairs. When they returned to the living room, several more faces had joined the gathering.
"You finally came back down." Old Master Jiang noted with a smile.
