Edward's power armor released an energy blast that instantly pulverized the Whitespikes. He frowned before reducing the power used and attacking a few more times. 'Their energy resistance is low. That must be corrected,' he thought. With low energy resistance, the value of these things will be drastically reduced.
"Leave a few alive," Edward ordered. "And Qon, I need you to influence them to enter a deep sleep."
"Why?" Jake asked. All these things were points. Although only 20 points, they were still points.
"The scientist squad needs a sample for their research," Qon explained as he used a mind touch to force two whitespikes into deep sleep. "But, how are you going to transport these things with you?"
Edward showed him instead of explaining. He could have used the force field to carry them, but the current version of this suit was prone to overheating, so carrying these things with a force field was a bad idea. Instead, he summoned two Doom Bots from his extended bag and had them carry the creature.
"This is Romeo Command. Your signal indicates you've stopped. Did something happen?"
"We were attacked, but everybody is alright. We've captured two whitespikes, which should expedite the research."
"Capture?"
Edward detected the skepticism in her voice, so he replied: "I will send you a feed of what occurred." He still needed to build prestige for the commander, who is actually the protagonist's daughter. She orchestrated the entire plan of going back to the future to see her father again since Dan died in a car accident when she was 16.
"Such technology and power," Commander Muri muttered. She was both happy and sad. Her original plan was to summon her father to give him a sense of purpose. According to her timeline, Dan abandoned his family after becoming disillusioned with his life, following his rejection from a prestigious lab. This decision changed him from the loving father that Muri knew to someone else. She planned to summon him and give him purpose, thus changing her younger self's timeline. But now, if this elite special team is as capable as they seemed, the world might be saved before Muri has a chance to summon her father.
The team continued their voyage, and after two attacks, they finally reached their destination. The reincarnators first swiped the building to ensure there were no hidden whitespikes before the scientist started their work. With two aliens to draw as much blood as needed, the toxin was rapidly being created.
Edward helped them, not only to establish himself but also to study the DNA of the whitespike. With his help, the team finished the work in 2 days instead of seven. The team reported to Muri, and just like in the movie, this toxin was not enough because they needed samples from the female whitespikes, which were similar to an ant queen of her species.
"I will immediately organize a task force to capture the female," Muri responded after receiving the report from the science team.
"There is a nest in Maine with a female whitespike," Edward suddenly said. "Give my team a chance, and we'll capture it."
"Are you serious?"
"I would not joke about something like that."
'"…In that case, you have the authorization."
Edward did not waste time and summoned the others. "I know the location of a few female whitespikes, which is worth 2000 points. What do you want to exchange for their location and a ride from my Doom Bots to their nest?" There is only one female on earth, but at the end of this war, there are a dozen, each in charge of a nest.
"What do you want?" Qon asked with squinted eyes.
"You should have an extra lightsaber?"
"The lowest price of a light saber is 1200 points, and the highest is 70,000 points, but you want to exchange it for just news and a ride?" Qon sneered.
"You don't have to accept if you don't want to," Edward replied before focusing on Jake. "How about you? I only need to scan your arm."
"Can your Doom Bot also help me clear out the nest?"
"No. If you want to help, there is a 500-point price."
Jake did some mental calculation. If he can kill the female, that would be 2000 points, and there are additional points for killing the males. If he only uses the Doom Bot once, that's still a more than 1500 points profit.
"Deal."
Jake did not hesitate to get on the Doom Bots' back as it flew to the nest. Qon could only watch while sighing. He only had two backup light sabers, and the cheapest one was worth 2400 points. He was waiting for an auction held by reincarnators to sell, hoping to get at least 3000 points for it. The other one had sentimental value, and he would not sell it for anything in the world.
Edward checked the schematic of Jake's arm. He did not have much hope and only asked out of curiosity. However, he was pleasantly surprised when he discovered that the cyborg arm contained technology that utilized bioelectricity as its energy source. 'Well, that's worth something.' He could add an additional power source to his armor to use in an emergency.
Edward left two Doom Bots to protect this lab before flying directly to the underground nest in Maine. Ever since creating the armor, he hadn't had time to test out its power, and this was the perfect opportunity. These aliens did not hesitate to pounce on the intruder in their nest, especially since Edward forcefully pierced through the concrete and landed pretty close to the heat signature of what Morgana deduced to be the female.
Edward immediately started to release energy blasts from his palm, killing one alien with one blast. With Morgana's Guidance System, he did not have to do much to hit his target. But this nest contained too many creatures, and they ran toward him on all sides. Two small guns appeared on his shoulder and released a sonic attack that liquefied these creatures' brains.
Boom!
The creature successfully overwhelmed Edward with numbers as hundreds of them jumped on him. However, his force field activated and pushed all of them away. Then, he changed to a different weapon mode and started firing explosive energy blasts. Each attack was like a small grenade, eviscerating dozens of whitespikes.
"Sir, you are overheating," Morgana said.
"Already?" He saw the data and shook his head. It was not the best idea to use nuclear power as the source of this suit. Luckily, after this mission, he should be able to create a cold fusion reactor. In fact, if not for the role he was playing, he would have directly started with a clean energy source like mana.
"Use the coolant," Edward ordered. Steam soon emitted from his armor as he continued his slaughter. After getting all the data he wanted, Edward killed 500 of these creatures to reach the limit. Then, he encased the female whitespikes inside a force field before flying away.
'The heating is not the only issue. The energy efficiency of this suit is very poor,' Edward complained. He wanted nothing more than to start building the 2.0 version. After returning to the base, he waited for Jake's return. The latter ended up needing the Doom Bots' help, so he paid Edward 500 points, making his total over 10,778. Finally, the team reunited with Muri in a base called Deepswell-9, located 25 miles east of Port Nelson, Bahamas. It's also where the Jumplink is, which is one of Edward's primary goals.
