The morning after was like everyday. Morning was magi tech lecture along with mana circuits and mana theory . After Jay received the medal of Honor he was surrounded by everyone and was asked for details . He had become instantly a celebrity overnight. The whole day he was surrounded by everyone . Even his instructors were peying him open for the juicy details .
The students randomly came by and took his photos either in private or in person and uploaded them in the social media . A brave paparazzi managed to slip into the institute and tried to get an interview . But was immediately thrown out into the streets .
And as the patriarch told him the high society which at first didn't bother with Jay . Was now seriously interested in him .
The girls sent letters , many of them tried to talk to him in person . Even few of them proposing . And Jay had to turn each one of them down .
And Verdansk even tried to talk more with Jay . But Jay would never turn down Verdansk. They were good friends .
And dormmates . Sharing a few meals together .
If her was being bullied then Jay would bring down the hammer of justice thus Verdansk was stopped being bullied .
Many men came to become sworn brothers with him . But he refused.
Just like Jay , Fay was even more popular for her agressive speech at the ceremony. She even had her own group which followed her . Though it was just online.
So Jay vlosed himself up for the rest of the day and went to sleep . There was a lot of knocking but then it went quiet .
But then there was a quiet knock. A voice came from the other side.
Rena :
It's Rena open the door.
Jay opened the door and there she was with her katana and the cold demeanor . She checked Jay's room . She had expected a very messy room . With clothes and accessories everywhere and a dark dingy room .
But as Jay had been a collage student before , and was attending it again . He wanted it to be better than his first life . Not doing mistakes he had done before , the start of a new life .
And he wanted to start it from his room itself .
Rena :
I hoped this room would be a mess.
Jay :
Happy to betray your expectations.
Rena :
I'm sorry , for springing this upon you , I should apologize to father as well .
Jay :
Once you go different , you go different . Dont look back you'll only find regret .
Jay :
So what sort of person is your fiance .
Rena :
He's just like father said every detail of him is like a good person . That's why he feels off .
Jay :
So you're just suspicious because you can't find a single bad thing about him .
Rena :
No that's not it . I just want some time .
Jay :
My father once you go forward never look back , you'll only find regret . He might have seen it from movies but it's totally worth it .
Rena nodded silently as as she nodded her katana also waved .
And with that it was night time precisely 8pm . Jay and Rena were ready as they headed to the family sparring center . Where new recruits are trained and veterans are given additional training . It was nothing but a high tech facility which is used to record moves and upload them to the Codex this there are high speed and high analysis cameras in every corner of the room . From every vantage point they could take .
It felt very eery. Jay felt like he was being stared at even though it was only ai who was filtering what goes in the Codex and what doesn't.
Jay :
This feels like weird. Oh there is that the other party .
Before him was a multi elemental mage a talent rarely born.
With a big mana capacity . Blonde hair , hazlenut eye colour . Acting like a proper noble . And Jay's favorite a very punchable and handsome face .
Jay bust his knuckles .
Jay :
Finally a punchable face.
Rena :
It's a pretty face sure.
The blonde guy approached Jay .

So you're my opponent for today .I wish you the very best .
Jay :
Me too . I hope you the best what's your name .

This is a first that someone doesn't know me .I'm Axos Walker . You must be the one with the medal of Honor .
Jay Garrick right. It's a pleasure to meet the esteemed one .
Jay :
Esteemed ? Just call me Jay.
Axos :
Nice to meet you Jay Garrick .
The patriarch stepped in ,
Patriarch :
It seems you've met the fiance Axos Walker . An noble from the mage faction. He'll be your opponent today .
Patriarch:
You'll be battling under the presence of the cameras and any footage will belong to us for using the Codex . If you disagree , the match will be forfeit .
Since the Codex used real life data the patriarch has taken the consent of both of the participants.
Patriarch :
To scale the battle to be fair for both parties . I shall allow the use of Codex to Axos . But it shall have restricted functions
Axos :
I appreciate the support patriarch but I will win this battle and ask Rena's hand in marriage once more.
Patriarch :
Then are the combatants ready .
Jay :
Patriarch can I get a handicap .
The patriarch outright ignored Jay's plea and waved the signal to start to match .
Patriarch :
The Codex will be monitoring your match . When the codex decided that a combatant has taken enough damage . The battle will end . Or if combatant is unable to fight .
Combatants take your stance , Fight .
Axon :
I can't bear to waste any more time with you .
Flame magic : Fireball .
Jay :
So you also have the same habit as others. Well I suppose I do the same to show some style .
Metal magic : Metal wall.
A wall of metal came up and absorbed the hits. And they just heat up
Axos :
Earth magic : Earthen fist.
The ground rumbled as a big fist made of soil came up with a good bit of initial acceleration and a fair amount of mass .
But due to the initial signal it was easier for Jay to dodge .
Jay :
Light magic : Flashbang .
Jay made a small ball of light supplied by a string of mana and threw it towards Axos and by increasing the mana supply the ball suddenly shined brighter like a Flashbang catching Axos off guard . Where Jay closed in the distance and punched him right in the face with a right hook and he straight fell to the ground and Jay backed off .
Axos :
You use very cowardly tactics .
Flame wall .
A wall of flame erupted which engulfed the entire layer and became a wall which slowly closed in on Jay . Now a wall was closing in on Jay . Solution easy. Fly through the wall as fast as possible and blast fire from all sides to not get burned
That would be good if the wall was thick upto 2 meters or so .
But it was just a cake walk due to all the fire resistance and the inconsistent heat spread throughout to the wall . It was easy to figure out which side was thin enough to pass through without any burns.
Axon saw this and conjured up his biggest ultimate spell .
Axos :
Here's my ultimate spell Earth Golem .
A Golem made of soil , mud and sand spawned on the field .
It had tow eyes carved and was moved by mana strings flowing through the Golem . Like a puppet .
The Golem rushed towards Jay as he ran with his speed of .
2km per hour . Jay thought how should he end this .
Maybe with a big drill , maybe a the tiny asura
So Jay enclosed himself inside a bunker of metal once again and focused as he made iron sand pile up and a iron samd Golem was spawned . Jay used metal magic to meld them in place and it became an iron Golem . With a sword .
But while Axon was on top of the Golem controlling it directly thus ending mana flow issuesissues . With the iron Golem there were flowo issues . As it would take some time for the Golem to react.
While Jay when working with many Asura during the El Dorado due to the smaller size they were easier to control inside the bunker since then Jay's ability has improved drastically. And due to mana increase he can make many structures . But it's probable whether they turn out fine , refined or outright crooked.
The two golems clashed . The stone Golem punched the metal Golem . And the metal Golem was unfazed . Now the metal Golem turned it's hand into a drill and started drilling the stone Golem. And formed a huge gaping hole inside the Golem disrupting the mana distribution and depowering it for ten seconds until the user could figure out another path of mana supply.
Meanwhile in the bunker Jay is thinking about more flashy moves .Maybe passing wires into the ground and halting the opponent. Maybe opening up a volcano . But Jay remembered he was fighting for Rena .
So Jay got serious and used his mana to pump the supply in his right hand more and create a huge hammer .
He lifted up the hammer and slammed down on the Earth Golem . And the Earth Golem shattered into pieces while Axon sensed danger and jumped from the Golem .
Axon was frightened but he didn't show on his face . It showed only flabbergast . He grinded his jaw in utter rage.
And took out a sword fitted with the same black diamonds all over .
Axon ran over and tried to slash Jay . Jay immediately recognised those diamonds .
Axon :
I won't let you win even if I have to sell myself.
Jay conjured swords and crossed sword with him and he blocked many attacks as the black diamond . But Axos was getting more and more frustrated.
Axos :
Why isn't this working.
Finally Jay took up his right fist once again and punched him straight in his face . And he left his sword there . Jay picked up the sword .and the black diamond reminded him of the Abyss .
Jay immediately restrained him with chains from top to bottom . But with one touch it turned into dust .
Axos's hair and eyes turned black and devoid of any emotion .
Axos :
So you're the enemy of the Abyss . My master has ordered me to end you .
Rena turned to the patriarch . Rena was worried for Jay who might be seriously hurt . If the match was not stopped .
Rena :
Father we must stop this at once .
Patriarch :
Turn the safety net off .
The net was turned off . An black aura started emanating from Axos whatever the black aura touched was consumed by it . The black aura make even the air into nothingness .
Whatever he touched turned into nothingness.
Patriarch drew his sword and rushed Axos but Axos when touched the patriarch's blade it turned into nothingness.
Jay shouted loudly so everyone could hear .
Jay :
Everyone stay back , he is mine .
Axos :
Enemy of the Abyss , our biggest obstacle . If I kill you today our master's plan will be complete.
Jay walked towards Axos as so did he to close the distance .
Axos threw a feint and then touched Jay's chest . But nothing happened .
Status : Enemy of the Abyss (active)
Immunity to abyss debuff .
Axos :
Why aren't you returning to the abyss .
Jay knacked his fists once more and started ruthlessly beating Axos with his fist. It was very brutal . Jay was controlling his strength or his head would have been seperated with just one punch .
Rena stopped Jay by holding one of his hands as he beat him . But due to the black aura seeping still . Rena's footwear turned into nothing.
Jay pushed Rena back to keep her from being consumed by the abyss . Jay stood up realising one thing . Enemies are not just outside but within as well .
Jay :
How did you get this power .
Axos made an arrogant face .
Axos :
Jealous , hey get this .
Axos spat on Jay's face . And under rage Jay started beating him up again until he went unconscious and the abyssal aura that was surrounding him was gone .
Now anyone could restrain Axos . But the problem was where to keep a criminal who could just melt away prisons that was for the third Head to figure out .
The patriarch did know something was off about Axos from the start . But now he was realising his grave mistake to conceive this plan .
After Axos was unconscious nobody paid any attention that this was a match to decide their fate of their marriage as the environment has become too tense and unsettling and Jay was seething with anger .He might have killed Axos .
Jay was still burning furiously .and due to excessive rageana started to leak out and convert into heat raising the room temperature by 0.5 every half a minute .
Enemy of the Abyss status deactivated.
Everyone was trapped in the bystander effect where noone who go near Jay . So the patriarch decided to step in himself .
The patriarch turned towards Jay . With the Codex on . Just in case .
The patriarch kept his hand on Jay's shoulder.
Patriarch :
Good work . Calm down take a deep breather and release the heat.
Jay took a deep breath and the temperature went down to normal .
Patriach:
Thank you for standing by my daughter's side .
Jay :
So how's your groom prospects looking now .
Patriach:
Good thanks to you .
Jay :
What ?
With that the sequence ended with Axos and his family getting arrested . With Phoenix interrogating Axos .
And Jay figuring out the patriarch's words .
