Rain felt the soft breeze on his skin as the gigantic bird took off flying among the clouds. Normally, the resulting wind from the bird's flight would've sent him cascading down to a gruesome end but it seemed that Rose was protecting him, only letting a cool and refreshing breeze pass through.
As such Rain's first time flying was quite pleasant. The only thing that was dampening his mood was the fact that he couldn't appreciate the view with his eyes. Gloom settled on his face as the memory of the twisted bandit's face appeared in his mind. He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists.
"Don't give into a blind rage, those evil men are in the end, mere mortals. You will be able to settle the account with them once you become strong enough." Rose's soft voice came from his side. She had noticed his mood changing.
Breathe.
Cultivator Rose was right - Rain fought off the cold rage that was eating him up inside as he tried to regulate his breathing. "I will focus on what I can do right now." He fell silent and said finally. The frown between his brows smoothened out as he let out a heavy breath.
Rose nodded in appreciation while looking at Deep. Inside, she was quite surprised. In her experience, after going through what this youth had gone through, most people would strain to listen to logic.
In fact, it could be considered a good outcome if they didn't succumb to madness from the mental and physical agony.
The fact that he could regulate his emotions so well was incredible for an ignorant young man coming from such a deserted region. As she was making this observation she felt something and turned her gaze away from Rain.
Beyond the horizon, a red cloud was blasting toward them at an alarming speed.
"Cloudflare fiend..." Rose's voice was almost inaudible.
Rain, although blind, seemed to be adapting to his condition. He was developing a certain awareness. He couldn't really explain it, but he could now feel certain things with more clarity. For example, the wave of hostility that was coming their way.
"Something is-" Rain didn't have the time to finish his warning. A devious laugh came from the distance.
"I finally found you, little girl. Did you believe that you could escape my grasp?" The ill-intentioned voice belonged to a gaunt old man with a bald head and a fiery, long beard. He was dressed in a slovenly crimson robe and stood on a red cloud as if it were flat ground.
Rain was startled. It was not because the distant voice got closer in the blink of an eye, nor was it because of the eccentric appearance of the old man; he couldn't see it after all. The laughter had caused him to feel a burning sensation, which only got worse as the old man came closer. Rain felt as if he had been thrown into a pyre.
That was until Fairy Rose's pat on his back. The fiery feeling disappeared, replaced by a soothing feeling.
"So you still found me, must I get rid of you?" Rose's tone was slightly lamenting. As if she couldn't bear to take another life.
"Nonsense! You? Getting rid of me? You were lucky, I wasn't there when you ruthlessly slaughtered my subordinates. Speaking as if you are a compassionate person doing me a favor. Hmph!"
"You and your ilk have been plaguing the East Valmir Region for long enough. Killing, Raping, stealing, and causing mayhem whenever you can. Numerous fellow outer disciples of my Radiant God Sect fell into your devious clutches.
I've seen their remains. What you did was vile beyond compare.
After I got rid of your subordinates, not only aren't you hiding in an abandoned cave somewhere, but you have the gall to come for revenge.
It seems I am still too lenient in dealing with degenerates like you." The atmosphere turned cold. The wind stopped blowing.
"You!!! Let's see if you can still remain arrogant after I take care of you." The old freak was infuriated. Steam almost came out of his head. From the exchange, Rain knew that the man who had come this time wasn't a stranger to Rose; they were enemies. He tensed; a battle could break out at any time, and they were in the sky.
The waters of death were once again lapping at his heels, seeking to drag him into their unforgiving depths. Rose lightly patted his shoulder, "Don't worry, Cognis won't let anything untoward happen to you. I'll try to finish this unsettled business as soon as possible." She reassured.
Rain felt a certain finality in her tone. At the very least, she didn't believe she would fall today. Although the situation was dire, Rain couldn't help but deplore the fact that he couldn't see immortals fight each other.
Rose took a step off the Giant Magical Bird Cognis and a section of her robes turned into butterfly-like wings allowing her to levitate in the sky.
"This? A Magic garment? And a high-grade one at that. It seems your status in the Radiant God Sect isn't small." The old man, notoriously known as Cloudflare fiend, said. His expression had become severe.
Rose didn't answer, merely staring at him impassively. Her stance was clear. She didn't have time to chit-chat.
Make your move; if not, you will not be able to later. That's what her eyes were saying.
The old man's brows twitched, "Very well, arrogant little wench! Have it your way." He maliciously glared at her.
Suddenly, without any signs, a scythe like the ones generally used for harvest appeared between them and violently slashed at Rose's slender neck. Tongues of fire licked the blade of the scythe, giving it a sky-burning momentum.
"DIE!"
Rose was tranquil like a serene lake. She plainly reached out and struck out a palm. Meeting the enemy's low-grade Magic tool with blood and flesh.
"So Arrogant!" The Old man, who despite his words had kept a bit of caution inside breathed in relief, a slight smile appearing on his old face.
Cloudflare fiend knew sect disciples really well. Their cultivation was stable and firm, and they possessed high-quality magic tools. Something like his scythe couldn't compare. This was why he was wary of Rose inwardly. But now he was reassured. He grasped her cultivation level through the slight prana she released when she struck that palm.
She was only at the Magic Body Stage - Skin tier. He was a tier above her at the Muscle tier. Now that she didn't seem to have any high-quality attack tools, Cloudfire fiend had nothing to fear. Her end was set.
