Chapter 7 - An Hollow Genius IV

Waking up I find myself in a room. Looking around I notice I seem to be in a hospital.

Recalling my previous incident with the princess I can't help but feel a tinge of embarrassment. "Why did I act so impulsive and idiotic"

Giving myself a light slap and a small pep talk to not do that again I hear footsteps so I turn to my side. To my side was the old man who gave the entry speeches.

"Hello, Chang-min is it?"

Nodding my head I turn to my side and start to feel my face.

"Don't worry we never took off your mask as that would be a cross in personal boundaries."

Noticing that my mask wasn't taken off I turn back to my side.

"What do you want. I doubt a spatial mage like yourself will waste time talking to me."

"Waste time? No no no you fail to realize your talent is almost unprecedented. A perfect physical combatant. But I and the others wondered why is it that the crystal added additional words to your talent sheet."

'Others? Is he referring to people of equal status to him? That means I'm under watch as we speak most likely'

My gaze turns cold as I look forward.

"So what are you trying to say."

Noticing my change in emotions the old man hurriedly changed his approach.

"Trust me we aren't here to harm you but I have to ask. You aren't a full soul are you?"

My eyes widened as I look at him.

"What do you mean by full soul?"

"Isn't it obvious? While other people's souls are completely together and intact yours is spilt into 4 parts. Two of your souls are already merged creating you. While the other two are locked away. So I have a question who are you?"

Looking at him I felt a deep anger rise in my body.

'Who am I? How dare you even ask me a question like this. I locked them away not because I wanted to but because I needed to'

My eyes started flashing red as a small amount of killing intent started spreading out of my body.

A low deep growl escaped my lips.

The old man eyed me before clapping his hands loud and smacking me into a state of confusion.

"Well it doesn't matter anyway it seems like this is a sensitive topic for you. I'm sorry for bringing this up."

Snapping his fingers the old man brought out a package and handed it to me.

"This is all your school belongings down to clothing, money, food, dorm key, and class."

Opening the box and seeing the clothing inside I quickly get up and start getting ready to put it on. Turning around I glare at the old man.

Feeling my glare the old man simply walked out and I covered myself using these curtains.

'I knew that he could probably still see me changing with his spatial powers but it still felt comfortable knowing he isn't directly staring at me. Thankfully my mask is made out of special material so he can't see through that.'

Putting on the clothes I open the curtains and the old man was still there.

'What does this guy even want?'

Looking me up and down the old man nodded.

"You look good."

Looking at the old man I can't help but look down a bit after the compliment.

"Thanks"

'I'm not used to receiving compliments from people other than my parents. Embarrassing'

Noticing my reaction he gave a soft chuckle and looked at me.

"Chang-min I wish you luck as from now on I'm going to be your instructor in martial arts and physical training."

Looking up I looked surprised.

"What? A spatial mage teaching me martial arts?"

Chuckling the old man just lightly responded. "Don't tell me you thought that I was only a mage?"

----------------------------------------

*BOOM*

Running I can't help but think back to a year ago when that old man told me he was going to be my new instructor.

"That damn old fart" I mutter under my breath as I continue to run.

After accepting the old fart as my master he put me through training that couldn't be described in any other way but hell. He was even on par with my first master training me to be a hero.

While running I quickly do a backflip and push myself off the ground using my hands to escape the incoming danger. On the ground, right under the place, was a giant explosion went off.

'Is he trying to kill me?'

I soon notice a blur in my peripheral vision as I try to put my arms up to block but my body couldn't react fast enough and I was sent flying and hit against a wall.

Coughing up blood I start losing focus but quickly stand up and get back into a stance.

I hear loud claps as the old man slowly walks towards me with a devilish smile.

"You did better this time."

Looking at the old man I couldn't help but scoff. "Damn old fart."

As I slowly fell forward I feel myself being held.

"Rest easy"

Waking up I look around and see the old man to my right.

"How long was I out?"

"Just for about 1 hour."

Nodding my head I try getting up but I stumble and fall back on the ground.

"Your body is still in pain. Rest"

Looking around I see that the original grassy area that was filled with dark patches and giant pits was healed once again. We were in this spatial region that replicated a biome and made it have multitudes of functions.

Looking at the old man I ask.

"Why are you training me so early? School hasn't even started yet.."

"Because you're flawed. You aren't a whole soul so it'll be harder for you to even start the first stage of the warrior path. Especially with your will being gone I need you to find motivation. Something that will push you forward"

"Whatever you say, old man"

"Stop calling me the old man I'm your master now so treat me like one!"

"Nah"

As I and the old man had a stare off we both started laughing as I lay on the ground.

"Hey, old man how strong do you think I'll be in the future."

"I don't know. Your future is unpredictable. But I can guarantee that if you take the right path your future will have limitless possibilities."

"I'm scared though"

"Of what?"

"Of losing."

As I get up I look at the old man.

The old man stared back. His head tilted lightly as his arm outstretched and he patted my head.

"Losing is a natural little warrior. You have to-"

"No what if I lose and because of that, I lose everything? My family, My friends if I ever get some, and what if I lose you?"

As I stare at the old man my gaze starts to waver as I can't help but shake. Not in fear but in sadness at my inability to protect him. My first master.

As I remember watching him slowly fade out of my life every time I try to recall my memories of him they start to fade away. 'I'm scared that what if I'm-'

*SLAP*

As the old man smacked me he quickly hugged me.

Feeling his warmth my thoughts start to become steady as he backs away and grips my shoulders with gentle but strong hands.

"If you're afraid of losing you must become so strong to the point you won't lose."

Nodding my head I swore to myself to remember this moment.

My eyes started to flicker as I felt myself get lighter.

*Title Unlocked: Limits? What are those!*

*Unlocking Sword Restrictions...*

*Sword Restrictions shall be unlocked in 321 days*

Getting up I ask the old man for a break as I look at my newly acquired skills and title.

I can't help but feel a massive amount of happiness and excitement, especially over the Sword Restrictions removal part.

Skill: Will

Desc: Something that can be described so easily but at the same time is so difficult to understand. You push forward with your drive and motivation towards your goal and this shall help you obtain it.

Effect: The stronger your will the stronger the probability of it happening increases.

Skill: Never tire

Desc: Long ago a race that never slept, never ate nor wept existed. They were the undead skeletons to be exact. This skill deprives off them and there ability to never feel tired.

Effect: In battle, your mind regardless of the situation won't feel tired. It'll be able to continuously think at a rapid pace without slowing down. Continuous training of this skill could evolve it to the full version. Never slept!

Title: Limits? What are those!

Desc: Someone who shall never be bound by common sense.

Effect: Under dire situations, you shall unleash power you've never known you had. The tougher the battle the stronger you become as you break through your current limits to welcome the challenge. While others struggle to reach the top you fight your way through. People fear the strong but you fear the lack of challenge that the strong once posed before you. You seek stronger foes to fight against to become stronger!

Nodding my head at my newly acquired abilities I felt happiness but looking at the Will skill I couldn't help but feel at a loss.

'What was my goal?'

Thinking deeper on it I didn't know. Revenge? I don't wish to seek a revengeful life since I've been stuck in that tower for decades.

Shaking my head I dismiss those thoughts till a later date as I head back to the area where I and the old man laid down.

Heading there I greet the old man casually and he reprimands me again for the lack of respect but I snicker and quickly divert the topic. While we were talking I couldn't help but ask the old man.

"When is the school year starting?"

Hearing my words the old man paused as he looked up at me he quickly answered.

"It's been started"

...

"WHAT? What do you mean it has been started? I thought you said it hasn't started yet!"

"Yeah, it hasn't started for you. Calm down and let me finish."

Nodding my head I calm down and wait for his explanation.

"For the "normal" students amongst the geniuses, they've started already as you're placed in the special class for monster level geniuses such as yourself and my granddaughter. Your class hasn't started yet as they wanted to make sure they got the best of the best ready to teach the future of humanity and monsters to beat the tower."

Nodding my head I felt like that made sense but soon I look up at him and question.

"Granddaughter? Old man, you're not an old man you're a gramps!?"

Chuckling slightly he nodded as he followed up my question with a rebuttal that made me shock down to the core.

"Not only do I have a granddaughter that granddaughter is the dragon princess. The same one who embarrassed you at the ceremony."

Looking at the old man once more my eyes widened. That's when I finally took a good look at him and recognized the resemblance.

Bright white hair that was a little messy and wavy but at the same time spiky. A body that was lean but compact muscles stood proudly on top of it. His eyes were a deep purple and his pupils had slits like a reptile. His looks? A lady killer regardless of how old he is.

Noticing the resemblances I couldn't help but blurt out. "You guys do look alike"

The old man seem to have a small twitch as he yelled.

"You just now noticed that? We've been together for a year now."

"Well, I don't pay much attention to the looks of people. Plus your granddaughter never embarrassed me gramps she just caught me off guard!"

Shaking his head the old man flicked my forehead as he continued with what he was saying previously.

"Your class semester starts soon in about 3 months actually. So we need to trade you down to the very bone."

Gulping I couldn't help but feel fear for the next 3 months but for some reason unexpectedly I was excited to meet that little loli again.

'I wonder how much you've grown.'

Remembering the previous meeting we had I couldn't help but grit my teeth.

'That won't happen the next time we meet. Hmph!'
