Chapter Two Hundred and Ninety: Worldly Affairs
Three small dishes sat on the table.
There was a dish of fried peanuts, a dish of pig's head meat, and a plate of stir-fried garlic chives.
Worker Liu held chopsticks in one hand, humming an unknown tune. He picked up a piece of soft and glutinous pig's head meat, lightly dipped it in vinegar, and as he put it in his mouth, he chewed while squinting, savoring the taste.
With his left hand, he lifted the wine cup to his lips and took a sip.
The breath he exhaled seemed to carry a trace of merriment.
In the kitchen, Worker Liu's sister, Liu Hui, was still busy.
A chunk of pork fat was sliced open with a cleaver, and Liu Hui quickly rendered it in the wok before her, making pork cracklings.
This stuff was actually quite unhealthy, but interestingly, both siblings enjoyed it.
Especially stir-fried green vegetables with pork cracklings—it was particularly delicious!
