Chapter 146: The Feeling of Being Protected
Xicheng Xun woke up, stepped out of her room, and came downstairs.
She saw Chen Nuo sitting alone in the living room, a laptop—delivered at some unknown time—in front of him.
Seeing Xicheng Xun descend the staircase, Chen Nuo merely tilted his head slightly, glancing at the girl. "Morning."
"What are you doing? This laptop is…"
"Just had someone bring it over. I'm checking the news online."
Chen Nuo shifted his position casually, but the angle at which he leaned happened to block Xicheng Xun's view of the screen.
"There's breakfast in the kitchen. Egg and ham sandwiches, and milk."
Xicheng Xun seemed slightly disappointed. "You didn't make that delicious thing from yesterday?"
"...Hey, have the past couple of days been a little too kind? Have you forgotten you're a captive?" Chen Nuo laughed.
Xicheng Xun shot Chen Nuo an ungracious look—not menacing at all, rather, it held a hint of a young girl's adorable petulance.
