Chapter 3 - I’m Not the Absurd and Immodest One, You Are

As soon as Su Ruoruo opened her eyes and saw Su Ye beside her, the pain and confusion in her eyes were instantly replaced with wariness and resentment.

Her hoarse voice rose gradually.

"Su Ye! What more do you want from me? Is it not enough for you—you planning to torment me in a new way?"

As soon as she finished, Su Ruoruo was shaking as she forced herself upright with great effort. Her face was pale, but her gaze was stubborn and unyielding.

Su Ye shook her head.

"No."

As soon as she got these two words out, Su Ruoruo's expression turned even more guarded.

No one knew what Su Ruoruo thought of, but her body trembled even harder with anger. Her voice held a hint of cold laughter.

"Su Ye, Father isn't here—you don't need to put on a show."

The sudden mention of Father stunned Su Ye for a moment.

"Hm?"

Su Ruoruo stretched out her slender hand, tugged at the edge of the quilt, her gaze quickly sweeping past Su Ye.

Her voice was hoarse.

"Because I'm the adopted daughter, and you're absolutely hopeless, Father decided to cultivate me—you were jealous, weren't you? From childhood until now, how many times have you tried to trip me up?

Whenever Father was around, you'd pretend to cry and complain, making everyone think I was bullying you."

The more she spoke, the worse Su Ruoruo's face looked.

Finally, she grit her teeth and spat,

"Su Ye, you don't deserve Father's love, you're not worthy of the Young City Lord's title! You don't deserve it."

As soon as the words fell, the room grew a bit quiet.

Su Ye looked at Su Ruoruo, her expression a little odd.

Back when she wrote the character Su Ruoruo, she'd made her as sharp and intelligent as possible.

So how come now, meeting the real deal, this person somehow seemed... a little dim-witted?

Not worthy of the Young City Lord's title?

Was this really a matter of worthiness? She only has the title because her dad is City Lord—there must be plenty of people more worthy in the world, but the problem is, their fathers aren't City Lord.

Actually, Su Ruoruo was Su Ye's maid since they were kids.

Back in the day, because Su Ye was born with Divine Power, she didn't really have friends.

Only Su Ruoruo stayed by her side.

To make sure she and Su Ruoruo could always play together in the future, she begged her father to take Su Ruoruo in as his adopted daughter.

Originally, she thought their relationship would only get closer, but actually, Su Ruoruo had always been wary of Su Ye.

After becoming the adopted daughter, her food, clothing, and everything else was exactly the same as Su Ye's.

Once she got the chance, Su Ruoruo left Su Ye behind and went off to study and cultivate elsewhere.

This made them grow further and further apart—which is also part of why the original her became more and more domineering.

If only she'd known this "ice-snow clever" Su Ruoruo would turn out like this, maybe she should have written her smarter while she was at it.

Would have saved everyone from having to deal with this nonsense now.

Su Ruoruo was furious at first, but gradually she noticed Su Ye staying quiet, and even looking at her with a bit of pity in her eyes.

This stabbed right at the sore spot in Su Ruoruo's heart.

"Su Ye! What the hell is that look?? The one being ridiculous is you, not me!"

Su Ye was jolted back to reality by her words.

Pulled herself together.

She hadn't forgotten—she was supposed to treat Su Ruoruo well, and try to make peace with her.

Following along with Su Ruoruo's words, Su Ye replied,

"Yeah, it's me."

But this only made things worse in Su Ruoruo's ears.

The already tense atmosphere grew more suffocating, as if adding frost to snow.

Su Ruoruo, now even angrier, lifted her trembling hand and choked out,

"You!"

The next second, she coughed up blood, collapsed onto the bed, and fainted on the spot.

Su Ye stood there, a little awkward. Did she really just make herself faint from rage?

Luckily, the maid's voice came from the door in time.

"Miss, the doctor has arrived."

Just as Su Ye was about to step in for a closer look, she paused.

"Let him in."

With that, Su Ye lifted her eyes, sweeping a glance across the bed.

Repairing this relationship was going to be a long game—she had to take it slow.

Right now, Su Ruoruo clearly hated her.

Chances are, next time this dear sister wakes up and sees her again, she'll spit up blood and faint all over.
