Chapter 65 - Chapter 2

I was ordered to rest and so I sat next to Barid. The place was cold. I sat down and meditated. I made sure to lower my core temperature. I opened my eyes to see a few shocked fairies. I blinked a few times and walked out. The dragons wrapped their wings and warmed my body slowly. The witches stared weirdly as I walked by. One asked me how I learned to do that. I mentioned being briefly trained by Dracula. The dragons were patrolling the woods. I jumped into the waters and swam till the mermaid mentally linked with me and asked me to come back inland. I swam inwards and saw the Kraken surveying the marine life with an air of boredom. I quietly swam without provocation. I am not interested in creating an incident. I am absolutely sure I would something that would arouse someone's anger. I just want to coexist peacefully. I wanted to make friends and belong. The mermaids were staring weirdly as I made my way back.

I sat down to meditate and I focused using my new eye. I tried to think of a place where the terrors of the mythology were hiding. There was a moment of discomfort. I thought that maybe they are hiding in the ocean. I saw myself at a place called point Nemo. There was a hidden underwater city where some deadly weapons were kept under lock and key. I saw an illuminating tiara. The tiara was made entirely from white marble. The top had snakes that looked like it was unkempt hair. Just below them was a pair of vacant eyes staring back. I felt a chill run down my spine as I was jolted back to reality. I took a deep breath and focused so the black well would open a portal for me to my destination. It was where Drakov was held captive the twin witches. I hoped to infiltrate and find answers. I just hope Arroyo doesn't burn the island. The black liquid seeped out of the ground and formed an oval shaped mirror. A hand extended as a welcome gesture. I reached out and it grabbed and pulled with force. I saw nothing and then suddenly a blinding light later I was on the floor catching my breath. I heard footsteps so I changed into bats and stayed on the ceiling. The security came and searched the place. They saw nothing out of place so they just walked away. "False alarm" yelled one of the search party. I swooped down and flew in formation. I stayed close to the ceiling and I saw a few witches had chosen to betray everyone. They talked about killing their own sisters so they can attain power. The new heads of the Anarchists were planning to invade the mermaid Territory in the hopes to find where the dragons lived. If they can get one dragon egg then they stand a chance of victory.

The dragon riders were quietly approached but they said no. The rider depends on the dragon but if the dragons were threatened in anyway they can sever the connection which will drive the riders mad. So far none has been able to find a way to get to the many dragon safe havens. They believe they can actually remake the dragon staff. The next island on the attack was Kong Island. They are afraid of the cannibal tribes. The mermaids were described as harmless beings. I wanted to laugh. The mermaids didn't use their gifts often but once they did the victims wished they never did. Some had elemental gifts others had more deadlier gifts. If directed to a specific target they are doomed. They dispersed to implement the plan and I quietly flew back to the room and wished for the black mirror. It took me back and I was flung into the sea. I skipped on the water surface a few times before splashing. As I swam back I made sure to remember every last moment. The mermaids nod their heads to say the message was received. Arroyo came and asked what was going on. I mentioned we are going to Kong Island to mount a defense and acquire a few traitors. I asked if the dragons were hungry. They are about to enter a feast. I made it clear that the hunters better be adults because they are here to find a means to reach all safe havens to capture dragons eggs so they can make something called the dragon staff.

I reached out with my hand as I explained so as always his smile vanished but this time a cruel expression took its place. He made it clear he is angry with the situation but he is not angry with me. The dragons breathed a ring of fire and I walked through. Portals opened and dragons of every variety came through. The first to come were humanoid species. Their hair was thinning. Their dull gray skin clung to their bones. They took a deep breath and the air got sucked out. The hydra heads that breathed lava exhale once and these were dead. The next was bird-like creatures that threw fireballs. The dragons made a sound resembling laughter and they exhaled and a golden light came out. This touched the birds and they perished with further incidents. The next was an octopus-like creature that wrapped itself like a ball and charged forward. A purple skinned dragon let out a blue ball which hit the rolled up creature and it froze solid. One of the dragons picked it up and carried it to a high altitude and let go. The froze ball shattered like glass. Then came the traitor witches. I used hypnosis and they froze in place. They stayed helplessly as dragons ripped them up and ate them. The last one to Perseus himself. He asked us to surrender or he will hurt in ways that will be lasting. I had enough so I asked Tiamat if she would eat him if I froze him. She grinned for the first in known memory and I walked over and Perseus congratulated me for being smart. I suggested that he was feeling paralyzed. He can't move or ask for help. I gave him a gentle push and I walked back casually. The only words I managed to say was eat. Perseus was a tall man who about seven feet. With bulging muscles. The queens of both islands divided his body amongst their babies.

I used my pocket mirror to open a portal to the home where the traitors were planning more attacks. The dragons followed and the mermaids were already fortifying the island. The dragons went in and ate everyone. They spared no one. After the place was picked clean we all walked out with weapons and documentation proving that some people from both sides wanted everyone dead. The document was a pledge of allegiance. The signatures were identified before both sides took action. I kept thinking about the point Nemo. I asked Angharad about a mysterious looking vault with a crown in the center. She said she has no clue. I showed her the crown but left out the location and she grinned. She smiled as she explained, "What you saw was the crown of Medusa. It is an artifact that has the ability to overrule the defenses of anyone immune to the actual Medusa head. Are you going to use it on Tiamat's mother." I shrugged, "If she escapes her current prison I am thinking of having it as back up." She grinned before explaining that one of the ancient rulers hid it and many other powerful things there. Once the artifacts were placed there he or she had killed everyone involved in the construction of the vault so no one would be able to tell anyone where it is. In doing so kept everyone from demolishing the world many times over. I explained that I was shown this while I was meditating. I had an idea that the enemy might be hiding in the ocean. I was shown the tiara as a result. She smiled, "So certain things are revealed when circumstances demand it. Otherwise they remain hidden for safety's sake. Interesting."

She gave me a genuine smile as she walked off. I reminded her that some of her witches had betrayed her and were looking to remove her from her position. She wanted names. I just held out my hand and she saw everything. Her smile became cold and calculated. She walked away and I heard her cackling. The only thing missing was a cauldron. I walked back to my cave and saw the place looked different. Three hydras were comfortably snoozing by the make shift beds that was nothing more than weaved seaweeds. Then Drakov, Arroyo and Yuri were sitting casually sipping some sort of beverage. The steam rising had different colors. It smelled appetizing. I knew better than to ask since it might damage my internal organs. I sat down and meditated. A few moments later Angharad came and asked me to come with her to find the vault. I told her that I am under strict orders to stay on the island until someone called a Fad Felen was taken out of commission. She grinned as she explained that it was from the Welsh mythology. A female monster, often described as an ugly hag with intense yellow eyes, hair, and teeth, whose breath was poisonous. She promised to protect me better than Tiamat did. I tilted my head and she mentioned hearing a rumor about the incident while I visited the fairy pond in the Maldives. Drakov stared at her for a moment and asked what she gains from the vault. She just pricked her finger and extended her finger. I licked it and saw a small hourglass with gold sand. I blinked three times and recalled the room and its contents. I didn't see it in the inventory. I told her that it isn't there. I saw the entire room but that hourglass wasn't there.

She stared for a moment and asked to see. I placed my hand on her face and she saw everything. She looked disappointed but that was replaced with genuine interest. I can tell she was already cataloguing everything. I asked her if she what the stuff there can do. She nodded her head. She said that most of the stuff in the vault was mentioned as stories. But she froze. Only the crown was calling out which meant that if anything else was taken the entire collection will disintegrate. The vault was created with the rules of absolute law. Take only what is necessary and avoid taking other things. She explained that the only reason I was able to see it was because the eyes belonged to someone who had been present during their construction. It was revealing secrets because the dangers ahead required intervention with such dangerous tools. I touched her and she flinched. I asked her if she was alright. She saw the weapon that can defeat the nihilist. This creature draws a breath and drains everything. Leaving only ruin and death. Once fertile lands look like arid deserts with no proof that anything ever prospered there. No life no hope. She explained that many witches died imprisoning the nihilist. Someone created the weapon but he was killed before he was able to fully defeat him. The monster is in his tomb waiting to be released. The mask of Prospero can defeat him permanently. I grimaced, "Then do me a favor and find out which of your witches are traitors. Because if we get this. They will turn on you and you will watch as your dear ones die. The status quo is simple. Only trusted people can know this truth because the others will seek to destroy these artifacts so they can beat us." She nodded her head to agree and walked away. I wished her luck as I raised my hand towards the dragons. I showed them the eye belonged to a dragon who was killed to keep a secret. The next one memory was the object of the secret. They stared furiously before asking me who had ordered the killing. I said that I had no clue but Angharad knows. I shook my head at their puzzled looks. "You guys don't bother learning names do you?" Arroyo shrugged, "People are being replaced all the time remembering them is a hazard especially when you realize the person in question may be dead or imprisoned or worse. So we stopped learning." I smiled, "I guess you don't know mine" Drakov asked nicely, "What's your name." I smiled, "My name is Rose. If I go missing at least you can ask around and someone might have an answer."
