The ever-familiar spasms jolted me awake. I looked forth to see an armored knight wielding a sword at my neck. [Inspection] told me she was alive but didn't fall into the category of species.
A spirit...albeit incomplete....no...not incomplete, just fragmented. She still has a connection to her core.
"You better speak up or this sword is going to go through your neck." The knight spoke with unbridled hostility.
I would've already gotten rid of her if not for the cool down. World hopping is such a pain, I wonder how Kel does it so easily.
"Where did you get that sword?" said the knight, pushing the tip f her sword further in, drawing a bit of blood to intimidate me. I guess I'll humor her for now.
I lightly shrugged, "Someone called artoria gave it to me?" That seemed to get her attention. "Father?", a look of confusion appeared in her eyes.
Hmm? Well now, that explains the familiarity. Artoria did the same when she met me for the first time. "You must be Mordred."
She lowered her sword and looked straight at me expecting me to give her some answers.
"Talking is a pain so I'll just show you," I said and lightly tapped her nose before she could react and sent her the memories. "Enjoy."
With those final words, I left her in the forest.
'You've changed.' IMU said with a weak voice, barely holding on. His presence inside my consciousness was no longer as firm as it had been. Like a small wisp, he was on the verge of fading.
"No shit, sherlock. I've been in that world for three years, of course, I would change. It's called character development!"
'Did you get the pieces?'
"Yup. The key is almost forged. Once it's complete I will be able to get inside the akashic library!"
'How would that help? The records are limited to everything occurring within the borders of the universe. You won't find kel this way.'
"I need to know his weaknesses before fighting him." I snapped back at him. "Besides, kel is not my only goal. I want to know everything. Who is jin? How did he get this system? Why did I fall in love with him so abruptly? There are so many things I do not know. If there is a slight chance of finding these answers, it's got to be here."
'Sadly I won't get to see the end of your journey, my friend.' IMU said in a melancholic tone.
".....I can nourish your soul back to its peak you know. You just need to ask."
'As tempting as it sounds, that would take a toll on your soul. So please don't. You still haven't achieved your goals.'
"I thought we had the same goals?"
'I no longer bear hatred towards kel. Logically speaking, he defeated me fair and square. And I ruled that world for more than 800 years, I believe that's more than enough. My soul is already worn out.'
"....How long do you have?" The sword in my hand trembled as I tightened my grip on it.
'Not enough, my friend....not enough.' he muttered with a fading voice.

"Status."

The bright light above was burning my eyes. The loud sounds made my head ache. I felt the pain of my bones reconstructing from a sludgy squishy thing to a hard structure. The putrid smell of polluted air made me feel like my nostrils were being burned.
Yet none of these mattered to me. I was used to pain. It was always with me, reminding me that I was a living being. That at some point before I ever had the luxury to feel pain, I didn't exist, I wasn't born.
It was a reminder for me, something to either make me go insane or keep me from going insane.
Yes, none of them bothered me...except for one thing.
"It's a boy dear! It's a boy! I'm so happy!"
"Calm down, you don't want to overexert yourself. Let me put him down for you."
"No! I'll keep him to myself tonight, unless you agree to the name I picked last month."
".....OK now that's just unreasonable."
"Fine, then I'll keep him to myself."
".....Fine we'll keep that name. Now give him to me!"
"He he...my lovely boy."
Yes, I became a baby.
"You'll be called Eren Yeager!"
And I also got named.
