Chapter 128 - Where Teaching Ends

The cold wind faded.

The lanterns steadied.

Silence returned to the platform.

Yet something had changed.

Feroz could feel it.

The empty stone arch stood ahead.

Motionless.

Ancient.

Waiting.

The older Feroz remained several steps away from it.

Neither man spoke.

For a long moment...

they simply stood there.

Then Feroz finally asked,

"What happens if I walk through it?"

The older Feroz smiled faintly.

"You stop being a student."

The answer sounded simple.

Too simple.

Feroz folded his arms.

"And then?"

The older Feroz looked toward the arch.

"Then the world starts asking for answers."

Those words settled heavily inside him.

The world starts asking for answers.

Not the Hall.

Not the Learning Path.

The world.

Feroz looked again at the empty opening.

Part of him expected something extraordinary.

A golden gate.

Ancient symbols.

Power.

Instead...

there was nothing.

Just empty space.

An ordinary-looking arch.

Almost disappointing.

Almost.

Because the closer he looked...

the stranger it felt.

The space inside the arch seemed deeper than it should be.

Not dark.

Not bright.

Just...

distant.

Like looking through a window at somewhere impossibly far away.

Feroz slowly approached.

One step.

Then another.

The stone beneath his feet felt different now.

Warmer.

Almost alive.

The older Feroz watched quietly.

As though measuring something.

When Feroz reached the edge of the arch...

he stopped.

Nothing happened.

No light.

No voice.

No test.

No question.

Just silence.

Feroz frowned.

"That's it?"

The older Feroz laughed softly.

"You sound disappointed."

"I expected something."

"Most people do."

The answer irritated him.

Again.

He stepped back.

"There's no lesson?"

The older Feroz shook his head.

"No."

"No question?"

"No."

"No impossible riddle?"

A smile appeared.

"Not this time."

For some reason...

that made Feroz even more uncomfortable.

Every lesson inside the Learning Path had challenged him.

Forced him to think.

Forced him to choose.

This...

felt different.

Too different.

The older Feroz seemed to understand.

"Do you know why there is no question?"

Feroz shook his head.

The answer came softly.

"Because the question has already been answered."

Silence followed.

Feroz frowned.

"What question?"

The older Feroz looked directly into his eyes.

"Who are you?"

Everything became still.

The Hall.

The lanterns.

The wind.

Even the whispers from the distant Echo Well seemed to disappear.

Feroz remembered.

The white chamber.

The older version of himself.

The impossible question.

Who are you?

The question that had stopped Qadir.

The question that had followed him through every lesson afterward.

The question hidden behind every choice.

The older Feroz continued.

"When you first arrived..."

"You wanted a name."

Feroz remained silent.

"You wanted certainty."

"You wanted an answer."

The older Feroz slowly pointed toward Feroz's chest.

"But now..."

"...you are becoming one."

Those words lingered in the air.

Not becoming an answer.

Becoming someone.

A person defined by choices.

Not labels.

Not titles.

Not destiny.

Choices.

For the first time...

Feroz understood why the Learning Path never gave direct answers.

Because identity was not something someone could tell you.

It was something you built.

The older Feroz nodded slightly.

As if seeing the realization happen.

Then...

something unexpected occurred.

The platform trembled.

Only slightly.

Yet both of them felt it.

Feroz immediately looked around.

The tremor faded.

Then came again.

Stronger.

The lanterns flickered.

The older Feroz's expression instantly hardened.

This time...

there was no uncertainty.

Only focus.

The third tremor shook the platform.

Dust fell from the stone arch.

Far away...

deep within the Hall...

something roared.

A distant sound.

Ancient.

Powerful.

Wrong.

Feroz's eyes widened.

"What was that?"

The older Feroz looked toward the darkness behind them.

Toward the distant Hall.

Toward the Echo Well.

His answer came immediately.

"Something entered."

A chill ran through Feroz.

"Entered what?"

"The Learning Path."

Silence.

For the first time...

real danger entered the older Feroz's eyes.

Not a lesson.

Not a test.

Danger.

Feroz immediately understood.

Whatever had happened...

it was not supposed to happen.

The fourth tremor hit.

Much stronger.

Cracks spread across sections of the platform.

The lanterns swayed violently.

Then...

far beyond the bridges...

a flash of silver light appeared.

The same silver light they had seen before.

Except now...

it wasn't alone.

Another appeared.

Then another.

Then dozens.

Like stars awakening inside the darkness.

The older Feroz stared at them.

His jaw tightened.

"No..."

he whispered.

Feroz turned toward him.

"What is it?"

The answer came slowly.

Almost unwillingly.

"Someone is searching."

The silver lights continued multiplying.

Spreading deeper through the Hall.

Crossing bridges.

Entering chambers.

Moving closer.

Feroz felt his heartbeat quicken.

"Searching for what?"

The older Feroz finally looked at him.

And for the first time since they met...

he gave a direct answer.

"You."

The platform fell silent.

Feroz stared.

For several moments...

he genuinely thought he had misheard.

"Me?"

"Yes."

"Who?"

The older Feroz looked toward the approaching lights.

His expression darkened.

"I don't know."

The answer sounded honest.

That frightened Feroz more than anything else.

Because if even this version of himself didn't know...

then whoever was coming was beyond anything he had expected.

Another tremor shook the platform.

A crack appeared across the stone arch.

The older Feroz immediately stepped forward.

"Listen carefully."

His voice became sharp.

Urgent.

Unlike anything before.

"You may not remember everything when this ends."

Feroz blinked.

"What?"

"You may forget parts of this place."

"What are you talking about?"

"There isn't time."

The silver lights were moving faster now.

Crossing bridge after bridge.

Approaching.

Hunting.

Searching.

The older Feroz grabbed his shoulder.

His grip tightened.

For the first time...

he looked afraid.

Not for himself.

For Feroz.

Then he spoke one final sentence.

A sentence that instantly erased every other thought from Feroz's mind.

"Find Haroon before Rahim does."

The world shook.

The silver lights exploded across the Hall.

And the stone arch suddenly began to glow.
