Somberskull reacted to the sword upon recognizing it, just as Alex had wanted him to. However, unlike how Alex had expected, the man had a completely different reaction.
He hadn't recognized the sword as something he was there to witness being made. Instead, he recognized it for everything that came afterward.
Immediately, the man stood in a rush and jumped back from the couch, keeping a distance. Even in his old age, the situation got him moving nimbly. Once he was far enough away from the sword, a black miasma grew around the man's palm, ready to strike out.
"What is this? Is this some sort of trap? What the hell are you doing with that sword?" the man asked, his calm state no longer there. He was like a wild animal now, trapped and desperate.
Alex then realized that the man had indeed recognized the sword, but only because Godslayer was far too infamous and the sword was thus just as infamous as him. The man was scared of Godslayer, which was why he had reacted that way.
