Alex and the group finally arrived back at the White Tiger's Palace. Bai Mingwen left them at that point, so Alex and the other two were free to return to their temporary stay of their own accord.
Alex could feel both Pearl and Whisker nearby at the palace. It had been over two weeks since their arrival and he hadn't met them yet since the welcome party, so he decided to head over.
He left his master and Battlesage and walked toward the palace.
The main palace had numerous palace guards standing around the door, and one of them stopped Alex before he could enter.
"Have you been invited?" one of the guards, a thin-necked zebra, asked.
"An invitation? I don't have anything of that sort," Alex said. "Do I need one to enter?"
"We're afraid you do," one of the other guards, a vulture with pink feather tips, said. "Otherwise, only the main family or palace guards are allowed to enter."
