After the external threats were resolved, contradictions amongst the nobles began to surface.
The previous attack by the Starfire Organization was too manic, resulting in a large number of nobles being stealthily eliminated. Once the instigators were jointly extinguished, other problems emerged.
With the death of these great nobles, not only were their titles and domains left vacant, but it also often signified that a family had lost the protection of its strongest member.
In fact, those who ascend to upper echelons of nobility are often the strongest within their domain. When they are assassinated, other surviving nobles of the same rank quickly set their sights on these unprotected juicy targets, readying for a new round of benefit division.
These original noble families naturally refused to be partitioned by others, each using every means at their disposal to preserve themselves, calling in favors, revealing their trump cards, deploying all sorts of impressive abilities.
