"You are speaking for yourself Matt, definitely, for yourself," Maddie shook her head.
"Come on Maddie, be honest, don't you miss the thrill of learning some new piece information and you can't help but want to tell everyone about what you just learnt by trying to subtly bring it up," Matt said.
"Please, I'm a genius, yes, I am a genius, learning new information is not that much of a big deal. Did you forget about all the homework and tests and exams?" Maddie frowned.
"Well, clearly, you are a genius, so the tests and homework were not a big deal to you," Annie smiled.
"It is true, they were not a big deal to me at all, I always aced them, unlike some of you," Maddie declared proudly.
"Hey, it's not fair, some of us were more focused on surviving each day with the ability to avoid you, getting good grades wasn't really something to look forward to," Annie pointed out.
"Hey, stop it, you're making me sound like a tyrant.".
"You were..." Matt and Annie said in a chorus.
Ollie laughed, he always liked to hear when Matt, Maddie and Annie talked about their past together.
He was not jealous, just interested to know more about the dynamics of their friendship in the beginning.
"What are you laughing about blondie?" Maddie turned to him while sipping some apple juice.
"Nothing, it's just that, had I met you when you all were just starting to be friends... it would have been very interesting," he chuckled.
"Interesting as in how? You are making it sound like a bad thing blondie," Maddie frowned.
"Interesting as from what I know, you and Matt became friends first, am I right?".
"Yes dude, you are right," Matt nodded.
"And back then, you and Annie were still not very good friends, she was suspicious of you." Annie nodded. That was the truth, the cold hard truth.
"Well, I don't blame her, were were enemies for most our life, besides, it was Azazel that forced me to get closer to her, I have to admit that was the only good thing he ever did in his entire life.".
"Awww, because if he hadn't forced you to be friends with me, I wouldn't have gotten to know the real Maddie and have her as one of my best friends," Annie gushed.
"Mhmm, you would never have known how cool I am," Maddie flipped her hair. Matt rolled his eyes while Annie and Ollie chuckled.
"But there was a time when I was angry at them both," Matt said.
"Yeah, when you found them using magic in the girls bathroom," Ollie laughed.
"How do you remember all this so well?" Annie exclaimed.
"It's a gift, because I choose to remember," Ollie smiled.
"Oh, yeah, I hated that day because Annie used her annoying levitatis spell and I couldn't get down. Anthony had to come and rescue me, I almost spent the entire day stuck there," Maddie sulked.
"Suits you right. I was so angry, you both were lying to me like I was some idiot.".
"Hey, hey, but from a more reasonable point of view, I didn't know that you had magic as well, not to even talk about being a vampire. I had plans to tell you, I'm sure Annie did not.".
Matt turned to Annie as if asking if that was true.
"In my defence, I was going to tell you sooner or later... I had not even gotten a good hang over my powers, how could I explain something that I did not even fully understand myself, to someone else?".
"That's a good point, anyway," Matt said.
"And what about you, were you going to tell me that you were part vampire?" Maddie asked.
"I told Annie, she was the first one to notice that something was wrong with me.".
"Hey, where was I when all that happened?".
"I don't know, I think you went to a competition or something. Anyway, my vampire powers were activating it was throwing me off balance, it was torture and I was acting weird... Annie helped me calm down," Matt smiled.
"Apart from other things," Maddie scoffed. Matt scowled giving her a stern warning not to say anything else.
"So, I have a question," Ollie said.
"Go ahead Ollie," Annie smiled.
"Do you think that if Annie had gotten a hang of her powers and had mastered them, you three would be as good friends as you are?".
"What sort of psychological question is that?" Maddie frowned.
"I am only asking a question, you have every right to answer it the way you would like it, or not.".
"Well, it's a very good question in my opinion. My answer is no, if I had mastered my magic back then, I wouldn't have because great friends with Matt and Maddie," Annie said.
"Why do you say that?" Ollie asked.
"Well, it is simply because had I mastered my magic, Matt would not have caught Maddie and I in the bathroom, even if he had, Curtis would have swayed me to erase his memory of it. I guess in a way, being an amateur at magic allowed me to make some very vital mistakes that brought me closer to having the best best friends in the world.".
"You really mean that?" Ollie asked.
"Of course... even though not beating Azazel the first time was a big blow. Had I not lost and entered into a coma. I would have never met you Ollie, we would have never gotten to know you the good way we got to.".
"Thanks Annie, that means a lot tot me," Ollie smiled.
"Nope, I am sure we would have still met each other blondie," Maddie said.
"True, but like Annie said, we would not have gotten as close as we all have," Ollie smiled. He cut a piece of shepherd's pie.
"Hmm, that does not seem like such a bad thing," Maddie said.
"Really now? Because if all that did not happen, you would never had had the chance to learn how to convey or much more less even talk about eating my very specially, delicious apples," Ollie smiled.
"Oooh, I see blondie, so you can play such a game huh?" Maddie had to admit, she was surprised. Out of everyone she expected to say something like that, Ollie was the last person she thought would.
"I am not playing a game Maddie, I am simply stating the truth, and that is the truth," Ollie smiled.
"Oh please, stop that, it does not suit you one bit. I am the one that's good at being mean, you and Annie are one in the same," Maddie scoffed.
"In what way?" Annie asked.
"You two are goody two shoes, you are always so nice and sweet," Maddie scoffed.
"Awww, so you think that I'm sweet?" Ollie smiled.
"What?!! No, no, I never said that!" Maddie was quick to refute.
"No, but I heard sweet, did I not hear sweet guys?" Ollie turned to Annie and Matt.
"You are right dude, I did hear her call you sweet," Matt laughed.
"Mhmm, I agree, I definitely heard her say that you are always so nice and sweet," Annie smiled.
"Oh you two shut up! You know what I meant! I was simply grouping you two together, and yet, Annie is nice and sweet, you are simply nice, nothing more nothing less!".
"Maddie, it's alright if you admit that I'm sweet, I take it as a compliment," Ollie teased.
"Oh please, do not flatter yourself blondie! You are not sweet at all, stop fooling yourself," Maddie stood up hastily and almost spilled her glass of apple juice.
"Maddie, calm down, it is not that serious, just enjoy the fact that he takes it as a compliment," Matt said.
"You all just shut up, I am not going to play this game with you all, it is annoying," Maddie frowned.
Annie laughed, it was funny seeing Maddie so flustered. She looked so cute. Ollie could not help but laugh, it was rare to see Maddie flustered.
"I am not playing with you guys, just shut up!".
"Sheesh Maddie, it's not that serious at all. Just relax, sit down, we won't tease you anymore," Annie giggled.
"Are you sure about that?".
"Very sure, or at least I won't tease you anymore," Annie said.
"What about the two of you?" Maddie pointed at Ollie and Matt.
"You should know that I would never do anything to hurt you, so of course, I'm done teasing you as well," Ollie smiled.
"And you," she turned to Matt while frowning.
"Yeah, yeah, alright fine, I won't tease you anymore, sit down," Matt said reluctantly. He wanted to continue teasing her for a little tiny bit of time, but Annie was already frowning and he did not want to get in trouble with her.
"Good," Maddie said. She seemed satisfied enough with their response so she sat down.
