So the plan was for my mom to introduce us to the chief of the southermost village who would guide us around and eventually lead us to the excavation site where my mom had stayed before.
The plan relied on my mom convincing the chief that she wanted to bring me for sightseeing and teaching me about her job. It was a normal enough reason to strike a friendly atmosphere with the locals. My mom told us that they had their own unique customs and that we may need to wait in the village for a day or two before they would let us go back to the excavation site. She told us that they called themselves Qukkas. And they had 8 different tribes surrounding the site following the 4 cardinal directions.
