I went back and did a pretty heavy editing pass on the older chapters, mostly to clean up the dialogue and make the writing read more smoothly. They still aren't 100% perfect to me, and I might come back to revise them again later, but I do think they're a lot better now.
While editing, I also changed and added a few story details so the story lines up better with my vision. So if some older comments feel a little out of place now, that's probably why.
For anyone interested in the updated material, I'd recommend rereading
1. The end of Chapter 17, "The Morning's Opinion," since it now gives a bit more information about Ashford Collections.
2. Chapter 18 "House Still Standing" and Chapter 19 "Carrion Eaters." These were originally one chapter, but I split them into two to make more room for the discussion about Beyonder characteristics, wild Beyonders, and the Church.
3. Chapter 20, which has a few added details. You don't really need to reread it unless you want to.
If you don't want to reread (which is totally understandable), here's a basic summary of the bigger changes:

The owner/leader of Ashford Collections is shown to have fire-manipulation powers and a rat inside the Storm Church in Pritz Harbor. Bishop Colmes also recognizes Lucian, Harwin, and Morven as wild Beyonders, but due to the political situation in Pritz Harbor and the problems that could come from pressuring House Vale, he leaves the Beyonder characteristics from Pike and Noll with House Vale for now and only gives Lucian a harsh warning.
