"Jun" Juro called, "dad left with Asmodeus earlier right?"
"Yeah" his brother replied, frowning at his phone, "damn it! why hasn't dad implemented wifi or something here, what's the point in being the only one who can bring a phone if I can't even use it"
"I don't know why you brought it, the only thing you can do is stop it from melting." Juro crossed his arms, "and I'm just surprised neither of them told us to come"
"Well I don't think we should worry" Jun replied as he put his phone away, "it probably isn't as bad as we think"
Despite his brothers words, Juro was suspicious. He didn't show it, pretending to brush it off like normal, but inside he was questioning his father's actions.
They had been inside the consultation room for awhile.
He wanted to know what was going on, but decided that waiting for his father to bring it up was better.
He didn't like to overthink, or think at all unless he had to.
As Juro was about to speak, a familiar heavy energy entered the room's atmosphere along with a feeling of discontent.
The intensity of these emotions were no doubt hers.
Quietly, Azrael placed down four plates in designated spots, two were farther down the table than the others.
Juro and his brother stared, waiting to see if she would say anything.
After she finished placing down the glasses and utensils, she turned to walk away, but stopped for a minute.
"Basileus wanted me to tell you guys breakfast is almost ready" she spoke, looking back for a moment.
Juro noticed she was refusing to look at him.
"Okay" he said.
Even though he cared, he knew she could openly talk about it if she wanted to. He doubted she wanted either of them to talk to her.
"Are you good?" Jun asked.
"Yeah why wouldn't I be?"
"..okay then, if you say so"
With those last remarks, the demoness shook her head and began walking back.
"Think she's gonna disappear later?"
Juro shrugged, "if she does, she doesn't want to be found"
"Also I forgot to ask, but what did Thanatos say when you asked if you wanted to merge?"
"Nothing much, he already knew I wanted to, he just said something about change and how my fire could slip out, what did yours say?"
"Basically..." his brother started, "Kronos told me that it's a big responsibility to merge, and that my abilities are gonna get stronger and harder to manage, he said it's a good thing I can control when to show my negative emotions, how we feel affects them and our abilities"
Juro nodded, "nice, I think we already knew that though"
"Whatever, I'm hungry as hell"
"Well we're going to eat soon, Az didn't bring out plates for dad and Asmodeus so I'm guessing they aren't coming"
"Weird.. dad doesn't usually skip breakfast unless it's urgent, right?" his brother furrowed his eyebrows.
"Right.."
🖤
"They still really annoy me right now" Azrael groaned, "why'd you make me do it for!"
A corner of Basileus's lips perked up, "you must learn that you can't simply avoid them forever, have they apologized to you?"
Azrael looked to the side and huffed, "maybe"
"Take that into account" the servant told her as he picked up the pot of stir fry, "as you may have noticed, your father and master Beelzebub will not be joining us, so you may eat to your hearts content"
Azrael's eyes widened, "what, I didn't even know they weren't coming.. what's wrong?" she asked.
Basileus's expression was unreadable once those words were spoken.
Her brown irises heated up and flashed a gold colour in an instant, "Bas, what are you not telling me?"
Quickly, the blonde haired demon put on a smile, "I apologize, his highness has told me to relay these words to you: he is caught up in a discussion and will visit you at a moments notice"
"Does he just somehow know what we're saying?" Azrael rubbed her temple, "he could've just told me himself"
The heating sensation in her eyes faded.
"Odd how he has not told you.. regardless I am certain he would prefer to answer your question himself, now, if you would please make your way to the dining table?"
"Alright, okay" she rubbed her shoulder, "let's go"
The two then went to the dining table, Azrael noticed the boys staring hungrily at the food.
'Right.. they have bigger appetites than me sometimes.. they better not eat everything..'
Azrael and Basileus took the seats further away from them, making the loyal servant raise a brow.
'Was this necessary lady azrael' Basileus spoke in her mind.
'What, if you want to sit with your boyfriend you can sit with your boyfriend' she retorted, 'I'm just here to eat'
'I would refrain from using that tone, princess. The tension between the three of you is going to make it difficult to enjoy the meal'
'I'll be nice, can we just eat please'
Basileus gestured to the food, "you may eat" he said to them.
As everyone served themselves, the demoness decided to mind her own business and continue talking with her faithful servant while they ate.
She found it amusing how they could act like nothing had happened, and assumed it was better that way.
She didn't want to ruin their moods, or hers.
"They still aren't coming to eat?" Azrael pouted.
She noticed Juro glancing at her as she said that.
"His highness doesn't require mortal cuisine to feed himself—neither of us do, and like us, he quite often favours the taste" Basileus explained, "right now he is most likely occupied"
She looked down at her empty plate and sighed, "I can literally just spy on them." She paused, realizing what she said.
'Well… he's taking too long anyways' she thought.
She stood up, catching the attention of the three demons.
Basileus stared, "Lady Azrael, you know you cannot-"
But before the blond haired demon could finish his sentence, she had already dropped into her shadow.
'I feel bad, but whatever it is he'd probably mention anyways'
She popped out from a shadow near the corridors on the second level.
Azrael could not feel any other strong energies besides her father's and Beelzebub, and so her eyes heated up again as she searched in the shadows.
Black flames were slowly emitting from her.
Once she found an opening for her to see through, she listened.
Her father was at a circular table seated across from Beelzebub.
Their expressions darkened.
"Are you sure this is what he reported?" her father asked.
His tone was different, Azrael noticed he was using his demon voice.
Two voices were heard when he spoke.
She had rarely heard it, but it was powerful and piercing.. a mortal could easily be petrified by it.
"Unfortunately, yes" Beelzebub confirmed, "I have realized that due to these reports, it would appear he is not only searching for my sons, but.. Azrael."
"HOW COULD HE HAVE GOTTEN WORD OF HER WHEREABOUTS!?" he roared.
Her fathers eyes resembled fierce golden flames as his horns emerged from both sides of his forehead.
They seemed gigantic from Azrael's view.
She thought back and remembered that she never mentioned that demons were once after her, not to her father at least.
"We do not possess that kind of information yet" his friend scratched his head, "I understand your anger, but we should consider taking the best course of action"
"I am not banishing my child from her birth home yet again!" Asmodeus seethed, "should either of our children lose control of their temperament at this stage, it will not be something to look forward to, they require more time and cannot be influenced under any circumstances"
"How are you certain their temperament will remain clear" Beelzebub said grimly, "it will be more difficult once they have fully accumulated their powers, you know there are consequences. We do not have such catastrophic results anymore due to our longevity—they are new borns, the urge to lose control will be harder to resist with temptations. Normally, such a thing would not be an issue since it would only happen few times as they learn to control themselves over time. However, in this moment they lack that ability. It will be almost impossible to differentiate friend or foe should they constantly slaughter. If we set off to battle everyone in his court, they will come back with no intent to control their urges. They will become addicted to murder, like most demons were. They will think it's normal, and I will admit back then it was. We had killed dozens in Edis and on the surface for centuries before the change, lost our sanity even. Though that period of time has passed. In the worst circumstance, Azrael may die by your hands, or you will die by hers."
"I would not think of sending her to battle him, I am not repeating my past mistakes, she will not become like my previous children. If I have to, I will go without her."
"One way or another she will encounter him if we fail to take the proper repercussions!" Beelzebub argued, "our children may have killed a few mortals but the battles in Hell have went on for centuries, they will become bloodthirsty if we do not banish them!"
"Lucifer feared all my children, and I needn't remind you why he desires yours!" her father hissed, "have you no faith?!"
"It's not that, my friend" Beelzebub leaned back in his seat, "it is their pursuer, if Lucifer hasn't directly made an appearance, I'm afraid his motive may not be to kill them.. and you know just as well as I do that death is far better than being at his side."
