Of course, Zhang Yanhang wasn't actually suggesting there was a romantic relationship between the Witch Demon Mage and Makarov. That would be highly improbable. He mainly thought that if that unfortunate Alchemist from before had even ten percent of the Witch Demon Mage's reliability, Makarov never would have ended up in his current predicament. It just goes to show how crucial it is to choose the right partner at the startup stage of any venture.
