In the dark of the night, alone on the edge of the boat, Prince looked across the infinite dark waters of the ocean as he contemplated his thoughts. Suddenly, he heard footsteps coming from behind him.
"Awake again, I see," Duke said, coming beside him.
"This ocean is much like my mind," Prince said, gazing out into the sea. "An endless field of black. I sit here wondering, when will they break? When will I see land? And when I do, will it be a land of holiness and sanctity or a land of savages ready to kill me?"
"You're looking in the wrong direction, friend," Duke said, pointing his fingers to the sky. "It is the very darkness of this sea that gives way to what lies above us. It is only in the darkest of the night that you can see the stars."
Prince looked up at the stars, admiring their beauty, and for a moment, forgot about the dark thoughts that had consumed him earlier. Looking up at the stars, he realized how tiny he was in comparison to the rest of the world.
