Chapter 50 - Chapter 48

"Miss Young, please follow us please." A group of four bodyguards stepped forward blocking my way as I stepped out of the Arrivals doors, waiting for George and Rocket to catch up. And when they did, they quickly stepped closer to my side, narrowing their eyes on the men.

I was dressed in a tan hoodie that had a black heart printed on the front, a pair of skinny jeans, and tennis shoes, only because I wanted to be warm in New York City. I wore a cap because I was unsure if the people here knew about me, and I would rather I kept it that way since it was already bad enough to be ambushed at the airport in Birmingham and London.

The boys were also dressed in hoodies but their whole outfit was black, complementing me, also establishing how they were my guards. And while they rocked the style, it brought many eyes in our direction, which isn't want I wanted, and it didn't help that four more men were dressed like bodyguards.

"State who you work for and why you're blocking my way." I crossed my arms while meeting the captain's brown eyes that narrowed seeing how I wasn't going anywhere without any reason and proof. Reaching into his leather jacket pocket, he pulled out a letter.

"Miss Young, Julian wanted to make sure that your arrival goes smoothly and safely since this is your first time to the U.S. Because this is your first time, he wanted us to escort you to the hotel that you're staying in." He explained, handing over the letter, where I took a moment to scan the words, before handing it over to the boys.

"The people that are accompanying me have been to the U.S. and know where they're going, how is wellbeing a concern for Julian?" I asked, and the captain remained silent, unsure why his leader was concerned as well.

At first, they thought they were going to attack the young girl when she arrived, but suddenly Julian's demeanor around the lady changed and he had no choice but to make sure that she was protected and remained unharmed when she was traveling. A concept that confused everyone that worked under him, because they don't think it's fear either.

"We don't know miss, we were just given orders." He responded and I let out a small sigh before glancing at Rocket and George who shrugged their shoulders.

"Do you know where we're going to be staying?" Rocket asked, taking a step forward because he was acting defensively because I was thinking about how there was a connection between Julian's precautions and the pureblood vampire.

"No sir, we didn't have enough time to figure that out, since we were sent out in a rush. Just let us know where and we'll also provide you a ride." He said and I nodded before tapping Rocket's shoulder nodding my head, allowing him to give them our destination.

He frowned seeing how I was willing to go with them, but all he could do was let out a defeated sigh, handing over our bags muttering out the address. However, before they could lead us away, I called out to all of them.

"We'll take up on your offer this once because Julian is acting polite, probably because we'll have a meeting in four days. However, that being said, if we are harmed on the way or if somebody figures out where we're are staying, then we'll have problems." I glared at all of them, and they shivered as my wolf was making her presence known. "As for the car, I'll have to decline since we already have one waiting for us at the hotel." I smiled like I hadn't threatened them a couple of seconds ago and they nodded.

It wasn't a shock to Rocket and George as they've seen me switch my emotions like nothing, but for random people that we come across, I can always recognize that confused and scared look in their eyes.

After forming a circle around us, I was once again split apart from my bodyguards when we got into the cars. The first car had me with three of Julian's men, while the second car had Rocket and George with one driver -there was no doubt they were ranting.

Julian's men were a mixture of people, some were vampires, while others were humans, all in all, it was an annoying stitch to be locked in a car with, especially when I was a wolf. Thankfully they didn't do anything -all they did was follow the direction given by Rocket and kept quiet.

I was focused on the scene outside to care what was going on in the car. There was snow on the ground, everyone was dressed in dark colors, and there were lots of cafes on the streets, but most of all was the smell of industry in the air. Everything looked bleak.

When they brought me to my hotel wasn't in the crazy city, rather it was on the outskirts where there was fresh air, as well as perfect access to all the best places to visit. Once our luggage was unpacked from their SUV's they quickly departed without any problems, leaving all of us relieved.

"I thought you weren't on good terms with Julian." George thought aloud while taking the suitcase handle from my hands, and I nodded, letting out a small tired sigh.

"I'm not on good terms with him, but I don't think his reason for looking out for me is because this is my first time to the U.S., I think it's because he's following someone else's orders." I let out another small tired sigh, before looking up at the tall building that was fancy both on the outside as well as the inside, based on the chandelier in the check-in area.

"Rhonda said don't do anything reckless, Kenzie." George reminded me in a cold tone and I nodded, managing a small smile.

"Come on, let's get our rooms, and then we can eat." I glanced at Rocket who was staring at the building missing the small comment from George. When Rocket heard me talk about food, he grinned, pleased with how I was ready to check-in, eat, and then sleep.

The plan was unspoken since we just got off our flight not too long ago.

"Kenzie, get some good rest tonight since you have a meeting with Mr. O'Brian tomorrow around fiveish." George walked over to me, pulling me off to the side just as I was about to scan my key to my suite.

"Mr. O'Brian?" I asked, and he nodded, and while he seemed to look like he was in a good mood, the man's name coming off of his tongue didn't sound welcoming. "Do we know what he wants?" I asked, and the man handed over a manilla folder with a frown on his face.

"Mr. O'Brian wants to discuss a couple of things but he won't talk unless it's one to one, with a trusted guard on both sides." He explained with a small shrug and I narrowed my eyes on him.

"Mr. O'Brian is beneficial for both the mafia as well as the company, which is what he mainly wants to talk about," I muttered as I flipped open the folder to scan what was written, and the man nodded his head letting out a tired sigh, agreeing with my statement.

"Yes, that's what we're are assuming. Rocket said that he would go to the other meeting with Mr. Charles White. That being said I have to go to this meeting, even though I don't like the guy." He complained and I reached to pat his shoulder understanding his point.

Glancing up from the folder in my hand, I gave him a gentle smile before turning to open my door, facing George who looked like he was about to just fall on the floor and fall asleep, not that I blamed him, we've all had a tiring day.

"Let's make this a clean deal." I raised my hand and he gave me a high five, with a small grin even though he wasn't excited. Closing the door shortly after, I tossed the folder on the breakfast table, speed-dialing Jacob's number, making my way to the balcony window, to look at the beautiful city.

Once he picked up the phone after two rings, he greeted me in such a warm way. "You do realize that it's 2 a.m over here, right?" He asked in his gruff voice, and I nodded smiling as I heard his voice. It was one of the things that were calming to me.

"I figured that it would be early. I won't keep you up long, I just wanted to hear your voice before I fell asleep in another country. Today has been okay, surprisingly Julian sent some guards to escort us to the hotel." I said and he went dead silent, making me think that he fell asleep until I heard a growl on the other end.

"He did what?!" He asked suddenly wide awake.

"Honey, take a deep breath, I think he meant it in a friendly motion. Besides I've made it clear that if he does something he won't see another day." I threatened lightly and Jacob grunted on the other side. "I'll be home soon and I'll be doing my best to check in with you daily." I tried to comfort him but all I got was a tired grunt.

"I love you," I whispered before ending the call, knowing that he had passed out before he heard the words, but there was no doubt that his wolf didn't understand them.

'Let's make it through the week.' I thought with a great amount of determination.
