Chapter 44 - Chapter 42

*** From Romeo Clan Leader POV

"Leader, there is news about Mackenzie Young arriving at the airport, and she didn't put up a fight, rather she just followed. Do you think that is strange?" My right-hand man asked, suspicious of the young lady's actions and I just let out a small sigh.

"She was the one to reach out to me, it's only normal that she follows the escorts. Besides, Mackenzie isn't someone to cause trouble in public places, unless it needs to happen. She knows our seal, so it should be fine. Make sure that they don't harm the young lady." I ordered, picking up a cup of iced tea, turning away from the CCTV screen.

"Yes sir, we'll let you know when she arrives." He bowed before stepping out of the study, leaving me alone.

That child felt more like a grandchild than a business partner, and the fact that she is potentially a pureblood lycan only made me press for suitable arrangements for her.

I'm no fool to think that a young lady her age, can make hundreds bow to her feet without being supernatural, yet when I spent time with Alex and came across her, I knew that she would have greater destiny. Her presence was powerful, despite behind hidden, and that's probably why Alex hid her for long, he was also trying to figure out who she was.

Since I've read the prophecy, only once had it come alive, and that was around the time the child was born and her mother lost took her last breath. During this time that she was in my presence, I was going to figure out the true answer to my questions.

Since she sent a message to me, asking for information about the six ancient wolf bloodlines, I was curious about her true identity.

"Tell the other SUV with the other two, to pull off at a hotel, and keep them hostage. I'll give you further orders when I meet with the Daughter of Alex Young." I picked up my phone, addressing my right hand, and he replied understanding his job.

Standing outside later, waiting for the young lady to arrive, and when she did, I was nervous. Especially when she was yanked out of the SUV, by a guard, it was then that I caught a glint of murder in her eyes, but it wasn't the child herself, it was her wolf.

'Selena, what exactly is your purpose of pairing this wolf with her, it's like what you did with Jacob King.' I looked up to the sky, praying that Mackenzie had a strong grip on her wolf.

"So you're Mackenzie Young?" I asked, lifting her chin, so I could look straight into her blueish-green eyes, searching for the wolf again, but Mackenzie kept her hidden and looked me straight in my eyes. Taking a deep breath, I continued, "You said you had business. I don't mind doing business with you since you're the only one from your family that knows how to handle the underworld business, however, for us to have that business you need to understand that your friends are held, hostage." I searched for any reaction and she just nodded.

Shaking out of the guard's grip, she brushed my hand away, looking at the other guards with an irritated gaze as she saw them reach for their guns. "Can I make a request?" She asked and I nodded my head, wondering what she would request.

When our agreement was finished, the young lady accompanying Mackenzie was set free and the young man was brought to the main house, except he was placed in a cell. He was well treated, as I told the boys that nobody was to touch this wolf, because if anybody harmed the bodyguard of this Female Lycan, there was no telling what would happen.

Offering her a guest room, I left her alone for a whole day to rest from the trip that she had, and to prepare for our conversation the next afternoon. Where we took a seat at a small table, she was dressed in a white floral dress that I gifted her. She had her hair down, and her blueish-green eyes hooded as there was a frown on her face.

*** Kenzie's POV

'Something about that old man doesn't add up, why would he send a gift to me, while we are just about to talk about business. Could it be that he's trying to warm up to, as a potential investor or an ally? Not that I'm complaining.

Putting on the dress, out of respect, I was led to the dining room where we ate lunch in silence. Then later led to the old man's study, where we were sitting at a small table.

"Be honest with me, what exactly are your intentions. Rarely has there ever been a leader who dismisses their right hand, to be left alone with another leader." I pointed out and he let out a sigh.

"I know my place." He started and I looked at the bookshelf, unsure whether it was an insult thrown in my direction, but he hasn't finished his sentence. "I know where I stand when you enter the room. You're someone that is even ranked above Jacob King. Over the years, I've noticed that your destiny has always been strange. And now that you've recently accepted your wolf, everything that I been asking myself, makes sense." He explained and I tilted my head to the side.

"How did you guess I was a wolf?" I asked, and he let out a small sigh.

"I guessed at first because I was there to see the prophecy light up, as the being related to it, was born. When you arrived at the estate, you've only confirmed it, as I managed to see your wolf for a second before you hid it again. And when you asked about the six ancient wolf bloodlines, I also thought it was related to your case." He defended himself and I nodded.

"And you, are you a supernatural being?" I asked, leaning forward in my chair, and he let out an amused chuckle.

"No I am human, but I have been around enough supernatural events and beings that I know my way through it." He replied and I nodded, looking at the old man.

"To talk about business, I am trying to figure out which of the six ancient bloodlines are still around. So far I know that Jacob King and I are descendants, but there are two others who still have current descendants or the prophecy wouldn't have mentioned them." I pointed out and he nodded.

"Originally there were eight lines, Ernchester, Weston, Cortez, Lynn, Leonard, Raymond, Sullivan, Soulton. However, Ernchester and Weston, combined and took over the name Erchester, and the Lynn bloodline ended within the first generation because of a tragic incident. So the bloodlines that are known as the ancients ones are those except Weston and Lynn." Reminding me of the eight names that I saw in a book in Father's library.

"I'll look in which of the household are still alive with heirs, but it'll take some times, maybe about a week. Do you think you can wait that long?" He asked and I let out a sigh, thinking about the Dragons, who would be the next stop since they could look into supernatural beings.

"Is there any way to speed up the process?" I asked, and he shook his head.

"To get accurate information for you, I have to be thorough, and there are only a few people that I would give this project to. Since it connects to the prophecy." He crossed his arms, and I nodded, understanding his point. While the supernatural world is glad that someone powerful has stepped out, and will soon take their position, the humans will stop at nothing to make the world flourish.

"Erik Lopez, do you have any children and grandchildren perhaps?" I asked, noticing how there were rarely any family portraits along the hallways, if there were any they were locked away.

"I have a son, who hasn't married yet, so currently I don't have any grandchildren, it's almost tempting to just adopt one. I hope you don't mind me spoiling you." He smiled and my heart softened seeing this old man, since he was human, he only had about twenty more years since he was in his seventies.

"Is your son going to inherit the Romeo Clan?" I asked and he shook his head.

"No, my boy has decided to enter into the entertainment business, and has no interest in this line of work, not that I blame him, not only do you have to be knowledgeable about the past, you have to look out for the future, as the case of you.

"Not that I'm saying that my son can't do it, it's just something I wouldn't force on him. I do have another young fellow who has been at my side learning about the business and has shown a keen interest. He'll probably be my successor, next time we have a business deal, you'll probably be dealing with him." HE announced and I nodded, wondering who exactly he was referring to.

"It's not your right-hand per-chance?" I asked and he shook his head.

"You'll probably meet him this week since he'll be working on this mission." He offered and I smiled lightly, rising from my seat. "Are you leaving already?" He asked and I nodded, looking at the bookshelves.

"I'm going to go check on George. Excuse me." I tipped my head, before walking out of the study, walking to the dungeons, that I snuck into last night, to make sure the old man was keeping his word. When I saw George, he was sleeping, with his phone in hand, playing a matching game.

'It seems he doesn't intend to bring harm to my people, he's just using a bluff.' I noticed, leaning against the wall, hoping Rhonda was making progress.
