So many people who are at a position of power or close to it seem to always have our best interest in mind... SEEM. So many lies are told every day. So many truths are being twisted beyond recognition.
~
Are "white lies" good? Rarely. The term is too often used to wash the one who uses it clean. Used to give them the opportunity to say "but I meant well" like it's some universal spell. And too many of us, upon hearing it, leave it at that and never return to it, allowing the liar to grow in confidence.
~
Does anything get actually better or gets fixed when they say "I meant well"? It doesn't. Whatever they caused stays there for us to deal with. In that sense, the phrase is just a blade that cuts them off from responsibility for their own actions. A blade we place in their hands ourselves.
~
How they can live with themselves after "cutting themselves free"? Who knows. Maybe they can't, and are plagued by guilt every day? If so, why not simply be honest with everyone? Are they afraid of consequences? Were they not able to foresee those when they made their decisions? If their intelligence is not high enough to figure out something so simple, how did they even reach the position of power in the first place?
~
Or maybe they actually can live with the guilt? If yes, should they be the ones to blame, or should it be whoever raised them into a monster? If they knew we wondered that, would they use it as another excuse to wash themselves clean? Push the blame on the parents or carers?
~
How was it that in times distant the word "honor" had so much stronger a meaning? What happened to its power? Why did it loosen its grip on all those foolish and weak minds? Actually... that question might have been the answer already. Foolishness and weakness. Instead of allowing natural selection to work its magic, we, the honorable and wise chose to keep saving the foolish and dumb, helping them thrive and grow in numbers. Ironic, I guess.
~
The least honorable of all when it comes to lies though... is forcing others to lie on your behalf. Manipulating them into continuing this visious cycle. Convincing them that it is for "the greater good". And again, should the ones manipulating be blamed? Or the ones who are foolish enough to let themselves be manipulated? Or maybe both...?
~
The easiest way out of the lies is always blaming the one who they hurt... Pretend like they have no reason to take the blame for whatever happened, pretend like they didn't know, or pretend like the problem doesn't even really exist... Their victims know that the guilt must be tearing the liar from the inside, and shoving it down with more lies is not going to solve it. So why are the liars not able to see it? It would mean that the victims are of higher intelligence, so how come that the liar has the upper hand nevertheless...?
