Ok, I just realised I had accidentally flashed you guys, but you had to admit, you like it. The chapter you guys saw was supposed to be released next month on the 14th, but I had missed it and put October instead. You won't be getting any more of those from now on; I triple-checked. đđ
And if you're interested in reading similar quality of fanfic, check out my other books, but beware that some of the fanfics I will be focusing on are Chinese-focused, like Swallowed Star and Genshin Impact/Honkai Star Rail. I am also in the process of translating a Ben 10 fanfiction that I've seen two people attempt to edit, but they have failed at it, and their books are on indefinite Hiatus.
If you've got a Chinese fanfic that you'd like to see edited, tell me, I'll go check it out, and if I like it, I'll schedule it to be edited at a later date.
...
If anyone was under the most pressure at that moment, it was undoubtedly David.
After all, Azrael and Leon were watching from a safe distance, leaving him alone to face the blade of the newly emerged demon.
Ignoring the thin streaks of blood appearing across his body, he said expressionlessly, "You're the one who deserves to die."
"Demon!"
With that declaration, a Bible wreathed in golden flames slammed down toward the demon like a divine meteorite.
The demon, however, smirked in contemptuous anger. "You dare call me a demon?!"
He blocked David's attack with his right hand while gripping his sword. Then he pointed with his left hand at the city behind him, which was now reduced to smoking ruins by Ulquiorra's Lightning Lance.
"All demons deserve to die!"
David silenced the creature with those five uncompromising words.
"Your Majesty Adams!"
Seeing David and Leon besieging their leader with their cards, the remaining Emerald-level demons on the battlefield cried out anxiously and attempted to rush forward and provide support.
Unfortunately, Ulquiorra blocked their advance with methodical precision.
Azrael now had a clear view of their opponent, Adams.
The demon king was clad in obsidian armor and wore a jagged diadem that seemed to absorb light.
"No wonder it's called the Royal City," Azrael murmured.
Although Adams's strength had been tremendously enhanced by his twin weapons, two fists were no match for multiple opponents.
Under the coordinated siege of David and several high-quality cards, he began to lose ground. A brilliant flash of sword light swept across the battlefield, forcing back the surrounding enemies, and Adams exhaled heavily in relief.
He tightened his grip on his weapons, and suddenly, a dazzling radiance emanated from the blades.
Seeing Adams's preparatory stance, Azrael braced himself for what was coming.
Anyone with tactical awareness would recognize that he was charging a devastating attack.
In this world, there was no such thing as invincibility frames during ultimate abilities. David and Leon immediately launched preemptive strikes.
Adams evaded their attacks with fluid grace, occasionally deflecting blows with his gleaming swords, but otherwise appearing unremarkable.
However, Azrael and the others didn't mistake this for mere showmanship.
Generally, the longer a technique takes to charge, the greater its destructive potential.
At that moment, Azrael felt an overwhelming sense of lethal intent descend from the heavens above.
"What's happening? Some kind of orbital strike?"
Is his sword acting as a targeting beacon?!"
Alarmed, he quickly relocated with Amina to a safer position.
Moments after they left their previous location, a brilliant beam of light descended from the sky and crashed down with tremendous force where they had been standing.
"BOOM!"
With the violent impact, the earth surged outward in all directions like ocean waves.
While the damage to the terrain was significant, it was something that any Emerald-level being could achieve at full power.
More importantly, David and Leon's cards were completely undamaged.
Clearly, this level of destruction wasn't worth Adams' considerable charging time.
At that moment, Adams spoke quietly, his voice carrying across the battlefield with supernatural clarity. "Perhaps you outsiders fail to understand why our Adams family has endured as royalty for so long.
"But now you shall witness the truth."
With these words, he slowly descended into the center of the newly formed crater and drew a second longsword. This one resembled a fallen star, and its blade seemed to be made of crystallized starlight.
"To grant us descendants the power to protect ourselves, our ancestors specially forged two legendary weapons.
"One is the King's Sword, which symbolizes royal authority."
"And the other,"
The Sword of Judgment, representing absolute power."
As he spoke, the armor on his left arm shattered like glass, and blood spurted forth in crimson arcs.
"This is the price of wielding true power."
As his words echoed across the battlefield, brilliant sword light rose from the crater like captured starfire and slashed toward David with devastating intent.
Facing Adam's ferocious assault, David's expression turned grim, and the golden flames surrounding him surged to new heights.
Azrael, observing from a distance, frowned thoughtfully.
"More crafting materials," he noted with professional interest.
He could sense that both the Sword of Judgment and the original blade that Adams wielded would be exceptional materials for his purposes if converted.
However, there was no doubt that acquiring both swords would be very challenging.
"The drop rate in this secret realm is quite generous," Azrael mused, though he soon understood why.
After all, if the Adams family had indeed controlled this Royal City for generations, as they claimed, then it was only natural that substantial treasures would accumulate here over time.
Blessed by both legendary weapons, Adams's spiritual pressure continued to escalate dramatically, gradually approaching Diamond-tier levels.
Leon's expression darkened further, as if storm clouds were gathering on his features, at this series of setbacks.
But this was the most critical opportunity he would ever have.
Outsiders might not fully comprehend the internal dynamics of the British royal family, but as a prince, Leon understood the brutal reality all too well.
To consolidate their rule, the British monarchy had always implemented a ruthless policy of internal competition: survival of the fittest.
Only the strongest could ascend to the throne, regardless of gender or birth order.
The current reigning King George VII had claimed the crown precisely because he was a master-level Lore Cardian, for example.
Leon knew that if he failed to obtain these materials now, his future chances would diminish.
Even his siblings might try to undermine his authority and take these resources for themselves.
Keeping this grim reality in mind, he glanced toward Azrael in the distance. "Even if he reveals his trump card, he probably won't pose a significant threat to my plans."
After observing Azrael for so long, Leon had developed a reasonable assessment of the foreign Lore Cardian's capabilities.
The demon-type card was undeniably formidable but insufficient to threaten his ambitions.
Leon took a deep breath, and suddenly, a new figure appeared beside him: a tall man holding a sword in one hand and a spear in the other.
The moment this warrior appeared, Adams felt an immediate sense of mortal danger.
He sensed an overwhelming, threatening presence emanating from the newcomer.
"Ibar," the newly manifested card whispered, and the spear vanished from his right hand.
When it reappeared, the weapon was already positioned at Adams's chest with supernatural precision.
Adams's eyes widened in shock, and he instinctively raised his own sword to intercept.
"CLANG!"
The tremendous force drove Adams's legs into the earth like iron stakes, yet he slid backward, carving deep furrows in the ground.
"Athibar," the mysterious warrior's voice echoed again, and the spear returned instantly to his grasp.
Azrael was startled by this display. "Gungnir?!" he exclaimed in recognition.
The technique immediately reminded him of Odin from Norse mythology.
After all, the spear bore a striking resemblance to the legendary Gungnir, the Eternal Spear that never missed its mark.
However, Azrael quickly dismissed this theory. Neither Gungnir nor Odin could realistically be created by an Emerald-level Lore Cardian.
Furthermore, its visual design differed considerably from traditional depictions.
"So it's GĂĄe Bolg, then?" Azrael speculated thoughtfully.
This immediately brought CĂș Chulainn to mind; the legendary Irish hero would fit Leon's British identity perfectly.
After all, Celtic mythology is deeply embedded in Great Britain's cultural heritage.
Moreover, CĂș Chulainn was known to wield both a sword and a spear in the original legends.
However, according to Azrael's understanding, CĂș Chulainn wouldn't have reached Emerald-tier status in the original legends unless he was significantly enhanced in modern interpretations.
In the original Celtic mythology, GĂĄe Bolg didn't possess the reality-warping abilities depicted in certain popular fictional adaptations.
However, recalling the warrior's previous incantations, Azrael felt that this didn't quite match the traditional CĂș Chulainn.
On the battlefield, Leon's newly summoned card hurled his left-handed sword toward Adams, and the blade engaged their opponent with autonomous precision.
Seeing this display, Azrael's lips curled in understanding. "Case solved! It's definitely not CĂș Chulainn."
No matter how much the legendary Irish hero had been reimagined, it would be impossible for him to possess such sophisticated, independent sword techniques.
Unable to identify the newly appeared card definitively, Azrael decided to suppress his curiosity for the time being.
With the arrival of this unknown warrior, the battle situation returned to a more balanced state.
Of course, the primary factor was that Leon's team maintained numerical superiority.
Even though Adam had reached the Half-Step Diamond realm with the aid of his twin legendary weapons, he still couldn't gain a decisive advantage against David and Leon's numerous high-quality cards.
Azrael suspected that the mysterious warrior's weapons weren't inherent abilities but rather independently manifested armaments.
While their area-of-effect damage was limited, their destructive potential against a single target was absolutely devastating.
Within just a few minutes, Adams's obsidian armor was battered and cracking.
Seeing this, Azrael felt relieved and muttered to himself, "Thank goodness Ulquiorra was there to help us dodge that initial strike. Otherwise, I never would have anticipated that Leon had such a powerful hidden card."
Just as this thought crossed his mind, several coordinated attacks suddenly struck Leon's position.
The assaults weren't launched by the Emerald-level demons defending the Royal City but by several figures that had appeared unnoticed around the battlefield at some point.
"Fallen Cult?!" Leon's face darkened with fury, and he roared in recognition.
Immediately, a radiant protective light manifested around him, successfully deflecting the surprise attacks.
Then, several figures shrouded in black robes emerged from concealment in the distance and addressed Azrael directly. They declared, "Fellow believer, you have performed admirably."
Hearing this unexpected address, Azrael was filled with confusion. "When exactly did I become one of your fellow believers? Don't spread false rumors!"
He was completely bewildered by what these Fallen Cult members were implying.
However, after sensing Leon's increasingly hostile gaze, Azrael understood their motive.
This was clearly a calculated, divisive strategy.
"I should have anticipated this," Leon growled through gritted teeth. "These Fallen Cult members followed you here, didn't they?!
"And the child with you must be a recruit you're planning to indoctrinate."
Azrael had never imagined that Amina would become evidence supporting the Fallen Cult's plot.
Leon had always harbored suspicions about Azrael's background, but he had restrained himself because he needed the foreign Lore Cardian's assistance.
However, with the sudden appearance of the Fallen Cult, all his doubts were resolved.
It wasn't spatial turbulence that had brought Azrael to this secret realm. As a Fallen Cult member, he had always had the ability to travel between dimensions.
David had simply encountered him by chance during their mission.
At least, that's what Leon believed.
Seeing that the Fallen Cult's divisive tactics had succeeded beyond their expectations, Azrael decided not to waste energy on explanations. Instead, he simply sighed with resignation.
"There's no way out of this."
As he finished speaking, Ulquiorra, who had been conserving his energy, suddenly erupted with an absolutely terrifying spiritual pressure that dwarfed everything else on the battlefield.
