Kai Morland laughed out of anger, "Then tell me, which proposal wasn't already decided before it was submitted?"
"Thank you for your 'good news'," Winters politely yet coldly issued the order to end the meeting, "I will seriously consider your proposal."
Kai Morland knew the conversation could only end here today, so he sighed, nodded, and left, unable to hide his disappointment—it was rare to have such a straightforward departure.

"There's a trace of sincerity this time," Bard replied with a smile.
"Is there?" Winters was surprised, Bard's assessment made him a bit unsure, and he asked again with a doubtful expression, "Really?"
"Yes," Bard said, "Your prejudice against him is too deep."
Winters was incredulous, "How did he manage to sway you as well?"
