Bai Zhi turned her head, her face slightly flushed, and said, "I don't know."
"When you love someone to the bone, you'll understand."
Bai Zhi suddenly grabbed the tablecloth. Was he saying that he loved her to the bone?
"Don't say things like that. Love or not, life afterwards is just the same—cooking and chores without any real difference."
"Is that how it is for you?"
Bai Zhi held back the acidity rising in her eyes and nodded her head, "Yes, for me, that's how it is. Life is the same no matter who you marry."
"If it's the same for you with anyone, then why can't it be me?"
Duan Xingzhi's question was too piercing. His tone was seemingly calm, yet it carried an utterly heart-breaking despair, so much that Bai Zhi couldn't hold back her tears anymore.
"Maybe because I dislike you too much."
