Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Yu, Why Are You So Persistent?

Qian saw right away.

This was a young couple on a date, disrupted by a child throwing firecrackers—too dangerous!

Qian was lost in thought but noticed several plumes of smoke rising; the seemingly tranquil park was disturbed by one unruly child!

"Oh my, this kid is way too vicious!" Qiao Zhen, who came to find the little boss, saw a ten-year-old boy throwing firecrackers.

Seeing the little boss chase after them, handling the disruptive child with ease and doling out some criticism and education.

"There's another one; I'll handle him. Where he's hiding, I might scare him if I speak too suddenly." The hidden child was too close to her. Yu Minglang was concerned for her safety.

Yu Minglang carefully put away his briefcase, adjusted his posture; after all, it was just a few kids needing a bit of reprimanding.

"We're almost at the negotiation time; don't be late!" The secretary was about to faint.

Usually, the little boss wasn't one to meddle; what's up today?

Qian finished feeding the cat, stood up, and prepared to head back.

Suddenly, two winds whisked by, brushing past Qian's hair and landed with a thud. The hidden child, frightened after seeing his friend dealt with, wanted to throw away the remaining firecrackers; if Yu Minglang hadn't thrown a stone to knock them away in time, Qian would've been in danger.

Qian watched him walk over, and her hand felt cold. She looked down, speechless.

Yu, do you have to be so insistent, giving someone a plaster?

He even casually slipped her a plaster as he passed by!

Could it be that he saw she hadn't used a plaster, so...!!

In Qian's mind, Yu Minglang's icy face instantly turned into a giant adhesive plaster; this guy is truly persistent.

Yu Minglang withdrew his hand and turned to leave, "Stay safe. Luckily, I'm quick-handed."

These words lingered in Qian's ears: quick-handed...

Her face turned slightly red, and a thought bubbled up; Yu Minglang isn't just quick-handed; his stamina is good too... ah, shoot! What was she thinking!

She stood up and walked farther away, her ear faintly caught the secretary's quiet inquiry carried by the wind.

"Little boss, you haven't lost your touch from the past, huh?" Swiftly handling things, both were discharged, but such a difference?

Yu Minglang didn't answer them, just hurriedly leaving.

Qian curved her lips into a smile, softly speaking.

"One."

Code name, One.

This was also what he had personally told her in their past life when the two of them were getting along famously. She watched military dramas, curiously asking him, after he returned to take over the family business, whether he had a code name like others did back then.

He said yes, One.

Then she bought several bottles of perfume with the same name and teased him about it, saying he must have been flamboyant to use a perfume name as his code.

Yet she never imagined that behind his simple words lay such an exciting backstory.

Turns out, when he was young, he was quite celebrated; that name stood for being number one.

But... Qian looked down at the plaster he had slipped into her hand, a look of mixed annoyance and helplessness on her face.

"Same as in the previous life, the adhesive plaster—once stuck, it doesn't come off. Honestly."

Holding onto the plaster seemed to make her foot ache more. Qian walked to the next crossroads, sat by the roadside, peeled open the plaster, and stuck it to her ankle, muttering to herself.

"In the previous life, you made me buy so many bottles of perfume to no avail; this plaster will be your compensation; I'm not thinking fondly of you!"

The plaster's medicinal effect was indeed potent; as soon as it was applied, there was a burning sensation. Yu Minglang, we might not have the chance to meet again... right?
