Chapter 39 - (CLASSIFIED FILES) Multiverse Logs: Excerpt 1

Inside a hidden chamber within the Sanctuary, a room of which only Protectors can access, a bookshelf contains data on the Multiverse itself... and while Lukas may never end up reading these logs, that may be for the best. Whilst Core claims to be the one who willed these files into existence, there is no concrete proof of this. Some information within the files appear to be damaged due to time or intentionally omitted or removed. One of the files reads as follows:

"General Multiverse Investigations

I have decided to make logs of my progress into the investigations of how reality itself works and whilst I would like to have the answers all at once, it appears that it may be necessary to work on a smaller scale before building my findings up... how irritating. Even with knowledge that some would consider 'infinite' at my disposal, there is no feasible way to understand the vast intricacies of the world just at a glance. Besides, there is no such thing as 'infinite'; everything comes to an end eventually, all we can really do is delay the inevitable but eventually, the end will catch up to us all. Ah, my thoughts are straying from the original subject already, I suppose that happens when you become-"

"For any who may be reading this, I will explain my findings as simply as I can. Starting with the constantly expanding nature of the lands which life itself is built upon. Starting on the smallest scale, there are planets, normally small balls of rock floating through space, under very specific circumstances, these planets may allow life to flourish upon them. Then, beyond planets, there are solar systems which themselves contain at least one star; a ball that melts anything that comes near and on top of a star, most solar systems contain a variety of planets within them. Expanding your view of the world even further from a solar system will allow you to see a galaxy; a vast and empty space populated by solar systems, asteroids, lone stars and many, many more things. Now, what contains galaxies? Why, a universe of course. Universes are what many advanced civilisations believe to be the largest things in existence... although that is only because of one key feature of a universe; Dark Matter.

Dark Matter is a strange force that encapsulates many universes. If you're looking into a universe from the outside, the Dark Matter may appear invisible to you but on the inside, the Dark Matter resembles an endless black abyss and getting near this force produces some... destructive results... mainly that your body will most likely be torn apart, the same goes for any material that can be found inside of universes. On very rare occasions, some beings are capable of escaping their universe, either through outside interference or an incredibly rare amount of power growing inside of them which allows them to survive the collapse of the universe... or perhaps even through sheer luck. Regardless, some beings escape their universes and end up in yet another larger expanse of space; a Multiverse. Multiverses are large bubbles that seem to radiate a strange energy that causes them to glow, universes can be seen off in the distance as sparkling lights of varying colours and some of the strongest beings within these Multiverses often create safe places in which other outcasts or survivors can rest within, it has happened time and time again, as if the same thing is happening across various Multiverses... but to varying degrees of success.

It seems that all inhabitants of a Multiverse believe that a Multiverse is the largest thing in existence... and they would be wrong of course. Reality expands into infinity and I have no doubt that my latest discovery is not the end either but this is all I have found thus far... and so, the final expanse of space outside of a Multiverse is something I have gotten to name myself considering the fact that I seem to be the first person to discover it... as such, I've deemed it fitting to name this place 'The Void'. If one is somehow capable of mustering enough power to shatter through the shell of a Multiverse and make their way through the opening before it is healed (I will touch upon this subject later), they will find themselves in a seemingly endlessly-expanding space known as The Void. The Void appears to nullify almost all senses, even with my own senses that are superior to all others I have met, I could barely see my hand outstretched in front of me and as this realisation hit me and my technology detected a large lifeform approaching, a chill shot down my spine as I attempted to enter the Multiverse from which I came from only to realise that I couldn't see it either.

Very quickly, I managed to swim forwards and feel my hands pressed against the shell of the Multiverse before quickly building up my strength and throwing my body back into safety but not before I heard a soul-shaking, terrifying roar emerge from right behind me. From the limited research I have done into The Void, I can tell that it appears to be home to multiple giant creatures with powers that far exceed anything believed to be possible before, some even possessing the ability to manipulate time or warp long distances without much effort. I have decided to call these creatures 'Leviathans' as they appear to possess many physical attributes similar to sea creatures from other universes but on a much larger scale.

Due to the dangers of exploring and experimenting with life outside of the Multiverses, I have simply opted to learn all I can from the Multiverse in which I currently reside before taking the plunge into the deadly and life-threatening space outside. Some discoveries I've made about the Multiverses are interesting to say the least: any and all damage dealt to them seems to be repaired near-instantly and automatically, the universes that inhabit a Multiverse seem to just appear with no cause or pattern to how they form and most intriguingly of all, all universes within a single Multiverse appear to contain similar beings with very slight alterations to one another. All of this has led to a hypothesis that I have yet to prove but I feel it is worth mentioning anyways.

It may be possible that Multiverses themselves are sentient... or that there are beings within the vast space that create the life within the Multiverses whether consciously or not which would explain the similarities between all of the life of the universes, it may be difficult for the thing that creates this life to come up with many new ideas all at once and so they borrow details from their previous work... this is all just speculation however, there is little-to-no evidence to prove this. There have also been some anomalies when it comes to beings within these universes, beings that seem so incredibly different from the others that normally inhabit the universes only for universes created in the future to not include these beings at all... were they a mistake? Something that was created for the universe by complete accident? Or is something bigger at play here?

Not only that, there appear to be creatures that were born outside of Multiverses too... you may think I'm talking about Leviathans but recent research shows that the Leviathans were most likely incredibly powerful beings born within Multiverses which were destroyed for one reason or another and the energy within The Void distorted and warped their bodies into mindless beasts that still possess their supernatural abilities from their previous lives. No, in fact, the beings I'm referring to seem to call themselves 'Seekers' and they all seem rather familiar with each other. I've only met a few of them but they seem able to travel through The Void without much effort although they appear nowhere near strong enough to battle with a Leviathan. Most of these beings didn't seem much for conversation but one of them offered to share their knowledge with me which I gladly accepted of course however the conversations we have will be saved for another time, for now, all I'll say due to it being relevant to this log is that the Seekers were not created in a universe within a Multiverse, instead an outside force that lurks... and I quote 'Everywhere yet nowhere at the same time' was responsible for the creation of the Seekers.

The thought of such a being excites me to no end, how I would love to meet one as powerful as it and take a glimpse into its reasoning behind creating the Seekers. I see I have caught my mind rambling once again so I will finish this report quickly. I will note that it is possible to completely destroy a Multiverse but to even form a crack in one requires an absurd level of power, one that has only been demonstrated by a few beings to my knowledge and considering how quickly the Multiverses repair any damage, it seems likely that to completely destroy one would either require multiple god-like beings to strike very specific points at the same time (which in itself would require nigh-impossible odds for that many beings of that amount of power to exist within one Multiverse at the same time) or, a single, unfathomably powerful individual to strike a Multiverse shell and shatter it all within a single strike. Both of these possibilities seem outright impossible but due to the amount of Leviathans within The Void, hundreds if not thousands of Multiverses must have been destroyed through similar means for there to be so many.

Perhaps... this wasn't the work of many individuals... but perhaps one singular being, absorbing the energy from the Multiverses they destroy like one normally does when killing another being... if Multiverses truly are sentient then there is a vast amount of plausibility to this theory. A being so powerful that they are capable of shattering an entire Multiverse with their bare fists, a being so unbelievable that even Leviathans shiver when they lay their eyes upon them, a being so willing to end the lives of others just to extend their lives, extending them to nigh-infinity. Such a thing surely can't exist, can it? What kind of individual would even attempt something like that? A conqueror? A being of science, like myself? Or maybe... somebody willing to scare all of reality into submission through sheer force of will? If such a being exists, then they truly deserve the right to be called a lord, a god... a Tyrant-"

"Yes... yes, I will find this being myself and pray that they are not some mindless killing machine. What is science if not without risk? I will pledge myself to them so I may get close and understand them and their unbelievable strength... maybe with our understanding of this world combined, we may be able to create reality itself anew, reborn into our desires... no, a world like that would be too boring, we'd know everything that would happen... forced evolution in that case? Force the world to evolve so we may study the new life it produces even more, yes! Constantly pushing the limits as to what is possible with machinery, with biological beings... no, with both combined!

Obviously this is all even assuming that a being like that exists in the first place... of which there is no proof... but just the thought of it... it's irresistible! Anyways... this marks the end of the first log studying the Multiverses and what lies beyond, maybe with this research, somebody may be able to build a utopia where evolution and research into new ways of creating life never end. I already have the perfect idea as to what I will give to this being when we meet, a gift that nobody like them would be able to resist.

Signed, Dra-"
