Heru sat in his study with the evening light falling across his desk, his brows furrowed as he leafed through a report without truly reading it. The numbers blurred together; nothing could hold his focus. His thoughts kept circling back to one thing—Hugo and Lea.
Across the room, Yui stood by the window, her delicate hands clasped tightly together. The sunset painted her silhouette in shades of orange and gold, but her face was shadowed with worry.
"They've been quiet all day," she murmured at last, breaking the heavy silence. "Do you think… they're fighting again?"
Heru closed the folder with a frustrated sigh and leaned back in his chair. "I don't know," he admitted. "But I can't get the image out of my head—Lea standing there, saying she wanted to divorce, and Hugo… clinging to her as if the world would end."
Yui's lips trembled. She had never seen her son look so desperate, not even in their hardest years as a family. The memory cut her heart every time it resurfaced.
