The next day, during breakfast, Gu Junzhu told Lingyue and Xiao Shumiao that he and Ye Xingbei would be going out today and that Qiao Zui and Yun Jue would take them out to play.
Xiao Shumiao looked at Gu Junzhu with big eyes, "Dad, what are you and Mom doing today?"
Gu Junzhu coughed, "It's something very important."
Xiao Shumiao asked, "Can't you bring the kids along?"
"That's right," Gu Junzhu said, "We can't bring the kids."
"Alright then," Xiao Shumiao nodded obediently, "I'll play with Brother Xiaoyue and Little Cousin, they're fun too!"
Gu Junzhu smiled, "Good boy!"
Ye Xingbei leaned in to his ear and asked, "Fifth Lord of Gu, doesn't your conscience hurt when you lie to the kids like this?"
Without waiting for Gu Junzhu to reply, Ye Xingbei answered her own question: "Oh, I forgot, your conscience doesn't hurt because you don't have such a thing."
Gu Junzhu laughed as he ruffled her hair, "Dear, you're getting better at roasting."
