Chapter 26 - Darth Slayer versus the Amazo Android

Amazon Android:

Flying over the ocean, Central City, and more importantly, the ocean base, quickly coming into my view, I slow down and hover in mid-air.

"What had happened?"

Still in mid-air, I look down and see a destroyed base. The boats and delivery trucks are overturned and in pieces. The base's courtyard is littered with defeated One Earth soldiers, fallen assassins, and sparking pieces of beta robots. Scorch marks can be seen everywhere. It looked like the whole base was struck by lightning.

Slowly and carefully descending into the base, I throw the unconscious Harleen and Aquaman fugitives onto the floor. Searching the area, I scan for any signs of life. According to my sensors, the soldiers and assassins are still alive, but their heart rates are all elevated.

"150 beats per minute?"

According to what I know and have learned, an unconscious person's heart rate should only be roughly 90 beats a minute. If a person, let alone all these people, has an average heart rate of 150, even while being unconscious, that would indicate that something truly terrifying happened here. The only question is what could have scared all these people so much.

As I keep searching the area, I begin to hear a sound. A steady, constant sound, like footsteps. Turning and looking toward the main building, I see that the reinforced doors are missing. Walking out of the thick, black smoke, I see the silhouette of a man. I keep watching as Nightwing walks out of the smoke. However, as he steps out of the smoke, Nightwing drops to his knees before falling flat onto the ground. Standing behind him is another man in strange black armor, a black and red cape, and a mask.

"Error," my sensor screams. Red lights flash as I attempt to scan the mysterious man. "Error! Error! Unknown energy detected! Unknown materials found! Cannot comprehend! Cannot comprehend!"

Seeing the error message bleeping over and over in my head, I slam my hands against my head.

"Aaahhhh!"

Adjusting my sensors and my inner system, I manage to deactivate them before looking back at the armored man. I can't be sure. I can't understand it, but something deep inside of me is telling me I already know the identity of this man.

"It is you," I say, "Isn't it?"

"Amazo Android," the strange man in the sunglasses, now the man in the mysterious armor with unknown energy, says. "Give me Harleen and Aquaman. Don't make me do something I swore I would never do again!"

Darth Slayer:

I want to give Android the benefit of the doubt. I refuse to believe that he is truly working with Superman. Careful not to pull out my lightsabers yet, I look at Harleen and Aquamman. Their faces and bodies are covered in bruises and burn marks. They're stirring slightly, meaning they're alive, but knocked out. I look away from them and back at Android. That's when I notice something off.

"I do not understand what you are saying," Android answers. "But Superman had ordered me to bring back Aquaman and any other Insurgency members. I will not disobey him."

Android's eyes changing from purple to red, he uses his heat vision and fires dual laser beams from his eyes at me. Using the Force, my lightsabers fly off my belt and into my hands. Activating them, bright red beams shooting out from the hilts, I spin around and swing my lightsabers. Hitting and deflecting Android's heat visions, the lasers hit the water and cause a small eruption. A giant stream of water shoots into the air and rains down on the Android and me.

"Arrhhh!"

Screaming as I charge, one lightsaber in both my hands, I swing them in circles before ducking and spinning my body. Almost hitting the Android, he uses Flash's super speed to run and dodge my attack. Sliding along the ground, my knees skidding against the stone, the Android, now a golden blur, does a U-turn. Running around, he throws a straight punch. Trying to hit my face, I turn and swing my lightsaber. Cutting off the Android's arm, he jumps back and looks at his now stump of an arm. As expected, Android, using the micro-nanobots that make up his body, quickly regrows another arm.

Staring at his new arm, I watch as the nanobots shape and form into something else. As a lantern ring appears on one of his fingers, the Android then lowers his hand and fires a bright green beam from the ring. Stabbing the ground in front of me, the green beam hits my lightsaber and splits into two, the two halves flying past me and hitting the base's wall. The Android stops shooting and pulls back his hand. He must have realized that physical attacks aren't going to work against me. Stepping forward, the Android, using Martian Manhunter, tries to read my mind. Judging from his purple eyes and how they're snapping all over, I can tell he is also trying to scan and copy my lightsabers.

"Don't bother," I yell, holding one of my lightsabers out. "You can't read my mind or copy my things."

Judging from the flashing eyes and beeping noise, the Android must realize that I am right. Still holding out my hand, I deactivate my lightsaber, the red beam sinking into the hilt.

"But let's see if I can read your mind, Android."

Breathing in and out, slowly and steadily, I concentrate my thoughts and mind, and focus on entering the Android's head. Even with Manhunter's power, the Android can't keep me out of his head. As I enter his head and his mind, I find myself floating in a strange purple void.

Breathing out, my breath coming out in a fog, I begin to pull in as much power as I can. My hand and body shake violently as I draw more and more power. Shooting out my arms and legs, unleashing all the power I've gathered, I cause a mental overload. Opening my eyes, finding myself back in the ocean base's courtyard, I see the Android sparking and fizzling. Struggling to stay on his feet, the Android's eyes are flashing between red, purple, and black. The Android tries to fire laser beams from his eyes and another beam from his lantern ring, but he misses completely. Hawkgirl's wings appear and disappear. The wings shake and blur, and then one wing breaks off entirely. Looking up at the sky, the Android fires one last laser beam before falling to the ground.

Deactivating my second lightsabers, I place both of them on my belt and raise my wrist.

"Proxy-2. The area is clear. Enemies are defeated, and I have Harleen and Aquaman with me. Land now."

"Understood," Proxy-2 answers.

A few minutes later, the Rouge Shadow lands gently in the base's courtyard, her landing gears coming out and touching solid ground. Grabbing and picking up Harleen and Aquaman, Proxy-2 opens the door, and I run inside.

"Proxy-2, take off immediately."

"Understood, sir."

As soon as he can, Proxy-2 closes the door and shoots into the air. While I place Harleen and Aquaman down in the rest area, I move over to the control and sit in the pilot's seat.

"Just in time," Proxy-2 says. "According to my sensors, many enemies are quickly approaching. Some by land, and others airborne."

Bringing up a holographic screen, I see dozens of red dots running to a single blue dot.

"Proxy-2. Activate the hyperdrive. Now!"

"I cannot."

"What? Why not!"

"A few of the enemies are airborne, sir. If we use the hyperdrive, traveling at that speed, we would hit them and crash the starship."

I grind my teeth as I look out the window and see a small squadron of yellow lanterns rocketing toward us.

"What if we angel? If we angel up, we can use the hyperdrive to shoot into the atmosphere and then travel from there."

However, as soon as I suggest the idea, a yellow lantern shoots his hand out. A yellow beam shoots out his ring, stops above the Rogue Shadow, and turns into a box that traps all of us.

"Nevermind. Proxy-2, prepare to fly us out of here as soon as I break the box."

"Understood."

One of my lightsabers shoots from my belt and into my hand. Striking and shattering the yellow box, I raise my communicator.

"Proxy-2, go!"

The Shadow shoots forward with me still on top. Hitting yellow lanterns, watching with a smile as they are run over, thrown around, and flip uncontrollably in the air, they quickly gather their bearings and chase us. Pulling out my second lightsaber, I prepare for a fight.
