It was raining when Hana left her office. Her office colleague offered her a ride but she declined as she just started working there a week back and she didn't want to be a hindrance to anyone. As she reached the gate of the office, she decided to buy an umbrella for herself as she had important documents from the office which she couldn't damage. She had asked her manager for the documents as she was assigned to make a report on how the organization works to get a better understanding of the company.
Hana put her purse and the documents in a plastic bag she brought from the store and started walking towards the nearest bus stop with the umbrella on her head, held with the right hand and the left hand was occupied with the plastic bag. She was walking slowly as not to slip on the streets, she had one more life to care for now and couldn't lose it because of her clumsiness. She touched her abdomen with the hand which was still holding the plastic bag and tried to feel the life inside it. Currently, she was three months pregnant. It had been only a month since she found out about her pregnancy and only three months since she and Taesoo parted ways.
It was so sudden as one moment they were making love and the next thing she knows is receiving a call from Taesoo telling her that he doesn't want to continue being with her anymore. She tried to ask him as to what happened but all she got was a 'sorry'. It shattered her life. His disappearance from her life left a hollow emptiness. At first, she was dejected and sent him texts telling him that she was sorry even if didn't know of any mistakes she made, then she became furious because she didn't get any replies and started hating him. She started sending him curses but there was still no reply. She stopped texting him and accepted fate. She was so engaged in the post-breakup thing that she didn't even notice that she misses her periods consecutively for the past two months.
Hana got scared and cried the first time she got to know about the pregnancy and it took her almost a week to make a decision. She decided to keep the baby. Even if Taesoo didn't want to be with her, she couldn't let their baby face the consequences. She decided not to tell this to Taesoo as she feared he will reject the baby too and will ask her to abort the child. As she was an orphan, the baby was the only family she was left with (after Taesoo). It took her one month to get a job. It didn't pay much but she didn't have any choice because she lost her part-time jobs because of her breakdown after her breakup with Taesoo. Hana decided to join a full-time job to secure her baby's future. She detested Taesoo but not their baby. She will raise the baby alone, she thought.
She reached home after getting on the bus and walking a mile. Opening the gates of her apartment, she went to turn on the lights but couldn't do it because she felt cloth on her mouth and all she could smell was the disgusting smell. She kicked the person behind her and turned. She saw Taesoo holding his thigh where she kicked and when their eyes met, her vision started getting blurry and the earth was moving on its own. She was falling and expected pain but a warm pair of arms held her and she fell into the world of dreams.
