Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Staying Up All Night with a Woman for the First Time

In the early morning, the fog was so thick it couldn't disperse.

She lay on a bed as hard as stone, forcing herself not to overthink.

Tang Si was sitting at the bedside, her eyes were tightly closed, her brow furrowed, but she slept soundly.

As time passed, slowly, sleepiness crept in on her.

He saw she seemed to be asleep, and gently got up, but unexpectedly, the person on the bed suddenly opened her eyes and grabbed his hand.

His steps paused.

He felt that this woman was sent by heaven to torment him.

He had been in this line of work for many years, staying up late to look at case files, staying up late to work on cases, staying up late at crime scenes, he had encountered almost every kind of oddity.

But staying up late to accompany a woman to sleep.

This was a first.

The man's brow furrowed slightly, and his thin lips moved as though he was about to say something.

"Captain Tang—" from the doorway, Zhou Liang's voice suddenly came, and seeing the two of them... he abruptly stopped speaking.

Had he stumbled upon something serious?

Tang Si effortlessly withdrew his hand, as if nothing had happened, his gaze fell on Zhou Liang: "Speak."

It wasn't a confidential clue, he cleared his throat lightly and went straight to the point: "They found something unusual at Wu Wang's house, women's items, want to take a look?"

"Alright." Tang Si and Zhou Liang were about to leave.

Song Yi watched intently, knowing she shouldn't interrupt, shouldn't interfere, she had a sense of balance in her heart and knew the gravity of the situation.

So she remained quiet, without making a sound, particularly silent.

Since he was leaving, there was no choice for her here but to endure.

She understood well that this was her own issue, not his, she could only blame her own bad luck.

Bad luck had her entangled with Wu Wang.

Bad luck she didn't know how she got scratched by Wu Wang.

Getting involved meant cooperating with the investigation, keeping Tang Si here was just to confirm there was nothing wrong, playing a little temper.

Now it's different, he's working.

Moreover, if she wanted to win him over, she couldn't leave a bad impression.

But she wasn't sure if she could endure it herself.

She stared at Tang Si's back, tall and poised, wide shoulders and slim waist, his strong and powerful muscles seemed visible even through the fabric.

The man's posture was dashing, with a touch of wildness, a touch of laziness, but more of a steady temperament.

As he walked, he suddenly stopped.

Turned, looking at her.

He raised an eyebrow, it didn't surprise him that this woman wasn't causing a fuss.

At this moment, his mind was clear, knowing all along she wasn't the kind of woman who acted spoiled, not like how she appeared on the surface.

She knew very well what to do, what to say, when the time came.

He looked at her and spoke: "They found women's items at Wu Wang's house, Miss Song, in case you're falsely accused, the items might be yours, let's go take a look together."

His words were well spoken, giving himself plenty of face-saving steps.

Considering her situation and the fact that she's his criminal suspect, he was truly worried something might happen to her.

Song Yi wasn't naive, she could hear him, and understood his concerns.

He was a stable and meticulous person, his lazy and wild demeanor was just a facade, such a disguise made it easier for people to get along with.

No wonder he's the captain, his insight was very strong, he was afraid something might happen to her.

Those who met her noticed nothing off, only he sensed it.

And he considerately didn't speak out about it, for which she was grateful.

Because she felt this matter was not something glorious and didn't want people to know.

He keenly noticed her psychological state.

The three of them walked out of the detective unit.

As she entered, Song Yi followed behind Tang Si, always staring at his legs.

Following her was Zhou Liang in his police uniform.
