The role of the second male lead was originally meant for someone else, but it didn't matter to Xia Siyu, who was determined to play the role according to the original character setting.
The scene with the big explosion required the entire castle to be blown up. Many of the mechanisms were already shot in an indoor set back in the country. For example, the part in the heroine's brother's dungeon wasn't feasible for Director Ji to actually dig up a real dungeon in a short time, nor to create a winding tunnel, especially since they were abroad. Anyway, the audience wouldn't know what comes after a bend in the tunnel, so shooting in the set locally could perfectly present it.
However, for the whole building's collapse, Director Ji still wanted to film it on location. During the early preparations, they perfectly replicated a similar historical building from the area in a one-to-one scale.
