In the morning, Scarlett Xavier woke up earlier than Julian Rhodes. She opened her eyes and looked at the man sleeping beside her. He didn't hold her like before; instead, he gently placed one hand on hers.
Scarlett used to love sleeping in, so most of the time Julian would wake up before her.
Today seems to be an exception.
She checked the time; it wasn't early, but Julian was still asleep.
She lay there, unable to resist looking at him a bit longer.
Recently, Julian had not been sleeping well.
But today, here with her, he seemed to be sleeping soundly.
She watched him sleep peacefully and couldn't help but reach out to touch his face. If she could, Scarlett didn't want to be apart from Julian at all; she wanted to stay by his side.
But thinking of the Griffin family made her feel quite agitated.
...
She touched Julian, but didn't wake him up.
The phone rang.
She quickly grabbed it, afraid the sound would disturb him, and exited the bedroom to answer it on the balcony.
