Chapter 16 - Chapter 4: The Blind-Eyed but Clear-Hearted Young Marquis

This Commandery Princess of Yong'an is the youngest daughter of King Ying, cherished like a precious jewel since childhood, and equally adored by the Emperor. As a child, she was bold enough to tug at the Emperor's beard. Eventually, she was betrothed to the Marquis Xiao Anning's father, and after marriage, the two were deeply in love, resulting in the birth of their first and only child, Xiao Anning.

None of these people here could withstand the wrath of even one of Xiao Anning's relatives!

Tan Weizhi stood frozen in place, forgetting even the sharp pain in his nose, ignoring the blood that streamed unchecked.

Is the situation really this serious?

But everyone praises the people of the Duke Dingguo Mansion as the most reasonable. He thought that as long as he explained that they had nothing to do with the matter, there wouldn't be an issue...

"You, merely the son of a humble sixth-rank official, if it weren't for your cousin being the fiancée of the young Marquis, would you even have the chance to exchange a single word with someone of such status? It's laughable that you don't even recognize your own position, yet you dared to recklessly harm the young Marquis. Pray that the young Marquis is safe and sound, for otherwise, not even a thousand deaths would quell their fury. As for us..." The round-faced youngster's expression darkened repeatedly, leaving his sentence unfinished before turning to the others, "Some of you go find the young Marquis's guards, the rest follow me, we'll find a way down to locate the young Marquis."

The round-faced young man, whose family was merely that of merchants, usually the lowest status among the group, had now become the de facto leader.

The panicked crowd followed his orders, sprinting to find the guards of the young Marquis. The remaining ones, led by the round-faced boy, began searching for a path downwards.

Only Tan Weizhi stood dumbfounded, letting the blood from his nose pool on the ground. Until the guards of the young Marquis arrived, and two of them restrained him, tying him up like a zongzi and tossing him aside.

Tan Weizhi lay on the ground, eyes vacant, with only one thought in his mind: how did it come to this, how did it come to this? According to the plan, it shouldn't have been like this, as long as I dragged this group into the mess and claimed unanimously that the young Marquis fell accidently, I should've been able to push all blame away. That way, I wouldn't get into trouble, and my cousin could escape the fire pit.

But how did things turn out this way?

...

Everything has its shop.

"Hahaha, these humans are really foolish, just like that chubby boy said, both stupid and venomous, almost killing someone's son and still thinking the others would handle it leniently, haha, how can they be this foolish?" Kong Hou's voice, filled with sarcastic laughter, echoed in the shop.

Tianmiao was quietly eating rose petal cakes brought from another world, watching the array of large mirrors without comment, just quietly observing the situation unfold.

The several half-person-height mirrors in front of Tianmiao and Kong Hou were displaying the events around Xiao Anning from all angles, with no details missed, as Kong Hou mocked while pouring tea for Tianmiao. Humans are truly foolish.

"Kong Hou," Tianmiao suddenly spoke languidly.

"Ah, Boss, I'm here," Kong Hou quickly replied.

"Do you know what the biggest difference between you and Dong Xiao is?" Tianmiao's voice was somewhat ethereal.

"I'm a dragon, he's a phoenix. I have four legs, he has two legs, I don't have wings, he has wings?" Kong Hou answered with a confused guess.

Beside them, Dong Xiao almost burst out laughing. Kong Hou was always this adorably dumb, and perhaps that's why their master liked her? Dong Xiao quietly glanced at Tianmiao and indeed saw a smile on Tianmiao's lips.

"No..." Tianmiao softly said, "The biggest difference between you and Dong Xiao is that Dong Xiao can see shadows as well as light. But you, you see only shadows..."
