Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: No Money, No Life

Aidan Sullivan pondered; he indeed hadn't seen that man around. Just like Isabelle Blaine said, probably a freeloader, otherwise, why would he come knocking on their door on his own?!

Thinking of this, Aidan Sullivan felt a bit relieved, but still, no matter what, she's still his fiancée right now.

As long as their engagement isn't called off, she better not think about flirting with others, especially right in front of him!

Third floor.

Maverick Knight stopped at the door of Aurora Blaine's room. He didn't go in and directly asked, "Miss Blaine, did Timothy Knight say he gave you a chip?"

Aurora Blaine leaned against the doorframe with arms crossed, "Yeah."

"Give me the item, I can agree to any other conditions, but not this one," Maverick Knight said.

Aurora Blaine was a little puzzled, "Wasn't it a discarded chip?"

Why does it seem so important to him?

Maverick Knight was silent for a few seconds before saying, "Did Timothy Knight say that to you?"

"No, I guessed, after all, he gave it to a kid to play with." Aurora Blaine walked into the room, "Wait a moment, I'll look for it."

She recalled the events of yesterday. After Timothy Knight gave her the chip, she casually put it in her pocket, but it wasn't in her clothes pocket.

Later, Aurora Blaine searched through her bag and suitcase twice but still couldn't find it.

What was going on?

Out of the corner of her eye, Aurora Blaine saw the man's silhouette standing at the door, waiting for her to hand over the item.

Eventually, Aurora Blaine sighed, "I think… I've misplaced it."

She'd searched everywhere but couldn't find it. The pocket of yesterday's clothes was that small; she probably lost it.

Maverick Knight on the other side frowned, hesitated for a moment, and then stepped into her room.

He stopped in front of her. Those profound eyes of his seemed to be able to peer right through her.

Aurora Blaine knew he suspected her, but she was helpless. "I'm not lying. Why don't you have a look yourself?"

As she said this, Aurora Blaine looked directly into Maverick Knight's eyes, showing no fear whatsoever.

Maverick Knight observed the changes in her expression. The girl's beautiful, lively eyes showed no sign of panic.

He wasn't sure if she truly hadn't lied or if her acting was just that convincing.

His lips parted slightly, "Really lost it?"

"Really lost it. I don't have much use for that thing," she defended.

Maverick Knight's voice was cool, "It's the latest chip developed overseas. How do you plan to compensate for it?"

It sounded impressive, probably really valuable.

Aurora Blaine coughed, indicating her stance, "I don't have money, and I won't give my life either."

There's no way she's going to pay for it. If she'd known it was so expensive, she wouldn't have taken it!

Maverick Knight looked at the girl in front of him, "Oh?"

His voice was already pleasant to hear, and now the rising tone at the end was low and alluring, dangerously enticing.

As a voice enthusiast, Aurora Blaine felt like this man was seducing her!

"You can't blame me entirely for this. Something so important, letting kids play around with it, isn't that your problem too?"

Aurora Blaine planned to shamelessly stand her ground. What could he do to her? Could he force her to marry him?

Maverick Knight's patience had run dry, even though, indeed, Timothy Knight was irresponsible in this.

Now that the chip was lost, it would affect a series of progress in the collaboration, which was quite troublesome.

The next second, he took a step.

Seeing Maverick Knight approaching, Aurora Blaine instinctively took a step back.
