"Won't you get noticed if you didn't conceal your face?"
After they ate and waited in the private room, So Eun had to sneak to the lobby to check the Palace Guards patrolling inside. When he observed nothing of an individual who looked suspicious, he went back to the room, and they casually exited the Glazed Lake Inn.
Upon the small road, booths of merchants occupied nearly the side streets, and individual civilians gradually became a crowd. When they left the Inn, the sun was already above their heads.
"I can disguise all I want. A lot of them didn't really see my face, these people also have no idea."
So Eun let out a sound of agreement and nodded at him, before changing his attention to the carts beside the streets.
"If Yun Hwa followed someone, that creature would likely go into the crowds because of the people. But he was gone at midnight when people are asleep. I'm quite certain that he never entered the Gates to find that Ghoul."
They continued to walk onto the main roads like no one was searching for them earlier. So Eun let himself listen while walking beside him.
"Why did he just leave and never leave a note or something?"
"He thought it was nothing remarkable about a Ghoul. He could've left a note after checking it, but didn't get a chance to return, probably caught on something."
The other had his lashes downcast and his arms crossed on his chest.
Yet the way he talks nonchalantly doesn't suit his expression of someone worried.
So Eun observed him for a while and put both hands on his back, purposely imitating his walking pace, to walk side by side not ahead or behind him.
Back in the Inn where they ate peacefully, So Eun had gotten a chance to relax for a while that he didn't get to do in the previous days. He inhaled and released a deep breath before going back to the subject.
"He did this before?"
"This was the first time." Han Min replied, and So Eun had no idea what to discern about that. He suddenly thought about the Demon King, mentioning that the Ghoul was indeed very powerful.
If a ferocious ghoul had known that there was a Deity inside, he wouldn't have attempted to break in. But due to So Eun's condition, he didn't sense him until he was right in front of the door.
He only vanished without a trace when So Eun completely left the hut.
A ferocious ghoul would cower away like that, but no vicious one could dismiss Yun Hwa away, and then come back and leave without a trace.
He wouldn't come back if his goal was finished.
That's why, in the end, he purposely tricked Yun Hwa away and tried to break in through the door.
Fortunately, Han Min immediately sensed his motive and protected him.
Caressing his chin while walking, he came to this point, and So Eun couldn't help to glance at the other, he suddenly remembered the time he had with him at the hut.
His instincts told him to protect a Deity.
That doesn't sound real and serious until he thought about it again. So Eun gulped and finally looked at him properly, he reached out to clutch at his arm sleeve again.
Han Min didn't notice at first until he felt his robes stop him from walking forward. He unfolded his arms and turned to look at So Eun.
The other slowly let go of his sleeve and looked down.
"Uhh, I just want to ask something." The Demon King didn't respond, but he waited.
"If a Deity finished his mission, what would happen?" This thought had always been buried in his head since the day he met Han Min.
The other's expression seemed to change at that, but he remains calm.
"A very few of them fulfilled it. The other Deities who continue to travel and indulge themselves in this world never really found out what will happen, since they didn't seek it."
Then he proceeded to turn his head to the side to look at the gathering crowd before them.
"And the ones who fulfilled it?"
"They vanished without a trace."
At that moment, he felt his heart jump, and his hands unconsciously trembled.
"I didn't see a Deity vanish, although the authorities claimed that it was just a rumor; it's either true or false.." This time, Han Min completely turned to gaze at him.
"But I would never forgive myself if I ever witness one in the future."
Those onyx eyes stared at him as if he were telling something inaudible.
So Eun tried to stare back at him, but was surprised at the other's solemn expression.
To disappear without a trace was starting to sound like dying, and that made his heart beat so fast.
Little did he know, in front of him, Han Min was staring at him, but his hands behind his back were clutching his fist tightly.
