The following morning, Ezekiel quietly began making preparations.
He gave only one order. No one was to enter the mansion until he personally permitted it. He offered no explanation, nor did anyone dare ask for one.
Argon, Gandrik, Bryar, and Livius were all ordered to leave the estate. Even the two wolves assigned to guard the basement entrance were dismissed from their posts. The order confused everyone, but none of them questioned their king. His word remained absolute.
Only the cooks and a handful of human servants stayed behind to keep the mansion running. Ezekiel wanted as few people inside as possible. Alistair and Astrid could not risk being seen by anyone.
The mansion, once bustling with guards and officers, fell unusually silent.
Late that afternoon, the sound of helicopter blades echoed across the estate.
