CHAPTER 232
Livius stepped beside the bed and silently checked the IV line, making sure the medicine continued to flow properly.
No one spoke again. There was simply nothing left to say, and the silence lingered.
Ezekiel stared quietly toward the ceiling for another moment before turning his head slightly. "Hadriel." The apprentice, who had just finished checking one of the monitors, immediately looked over. "Open the curtains."
"Yes, Alpha." Hadriel crossed the room and drew the heavy curtains apart.
The afternoon sunlight streamed into the bedroom.
Ezekiel slowly drew in a breath. His shoulders rose slightly before relaxing. "It's suffocating in here."
No one answered.
Livius quietly adjusted the flow of the IV beside him while Gandrik remained standing near the foot of the bed, his hands clasped behind his back. Bryar stayed seated on the lounge sofa, one ankle resting over the opposite knee.
