The teacher's reaction went from hostile to shocked to stern in a matter of seconds. 'That's Professor Rothbury now.'
'Professors' sure seem to be growing on trees around here lately, no offence.'
Cali saw her scowl at me. 'What Jake meant to say was, he encountered Professor Dingpod earlier.'
Annie Rothbury's lips curled into a snarl. 'I hope you hurt him.'
Was this lady one of your teacher's? She sounds more like one of the students.
She was the Head Librarian, mom.
Now I get it.
I tried not to laugh as I thought back to the time I'd told my mother I wanted to become a Librarian, and she'd replied with a speech about how the ones she'd met were either insane, tightly wound or lacking in social skills. Annie was so much more than those stereotypes, though. I noticed her eyes were still blazing after I'd mentioned Dingpod's name. 'What did he do, Professor?'
