Emery sat in a lotus position within a cavern carved out of living flesh and bone, one of the strange landscapes inside the belly of the world beast. The chamber itself pulsed faintly as if it were breathing, and yet Emery had claimed it as his own by inscribing runes across the walls. The markings glowed faintly with silver light, forming a simple protective formation that filtered out some of the toxins that constantly leaked from the beast's insides.
Here, for the first time in weeks, Emery could breathe freely enough to concentrate.
His eyes were closed, but the corners of his lips tugged upward in excitement. The spirit energy that surged all around him was so dense it almost hummed against his skin. He could hardly believe it—this place, dreadful as it was, was also overflowing with vitality.
"Within just a few hours, I've gained what normally takes days…" he muttered, marveling at the richness of the flow.
