Chapter 20 - No Flying in the City

As Steve, Icy, and Celine flew out of the monster territory, a person got in front of them and told them that they could not fly inside the human city and they have to pay a fine and if they continue to fly after that they could be arrested. Steve wrinkled his eyebrows, annoyed that the guy was disturbing his time with Celine, and he ignored the person. Steve, Icy, and Celine all just flew around the guy and continued flying.

Seeing that the boy had ignored him and just continued flying, the guy decided to call for reinforcements. He wasn't sure how strong they were, but only stage 8 monster tamers and higher were able to fly in the air without requiring any help. Although the people looked young, it didn't mean that they were actually young. Heck, there were even monster tamers who were about 100 years old and still look like a normal 15 year old person. From his perspective, the 2 people flew without the help of any equipment, which meant that they were both at least stage 8 monster tamers. The people who had just flown past him should be both at least stage 8 monster tamers, people that he could not deal with by himself.

He himself was only a stage 7 monster tamer, and the only reason he was able to fly up because he had special pieces of equipment attached on to his body. From how he saw it, there was no way that he, a stage 7 monster tamer, could handle them. Besides, he only had 1 dark gold quality 5 stars monster that could actually fly. There was no way that his monster could actually do anything. After a few seconds, a group of people flew up next to the guy.

One of the people asked him what the problem was, and the guy explained to him what had happened. After understanding everything, the group of people nodded and went to chase Steve, Icy, and Celine.

Since they weren't really flying at a fast pace for monster tamers, Steve, Icy, and Celine got caught up by the group of people very quickly. The group of people surrounded them and told them to stop moving and stay put right where they were. Steve, Icy, and Celine all stopped and just stayed in place in the air. Steve twitched his right eye. He was annoyed. Why couldn't they just let him fly in the city!? It's not like he's going to harm someone or anything.

"You are hereby arrested for the crimes of refusing to pay a fine after requested to do so and continuing to fly despite one or more warnings," someone in the group said. "Please cooperate with us and do not resist arrest. If you cooperate, you will at most have a punishment of about 6 months in jail. If you resist arrest, you will be going to jail for about at least a year."

Steve looked at the group of people and didn't say anything. Seeing this, the person who had just spoken thought that Steve had realized that the people that were with him were stage 8 monster tamers and so Steve realized he would not be able to fight and resist them, so he chose to give up and cooperate. The person then told the others to go and arrest Steve, thinking that everything would go easily.

However, how would Steve be afraid of them? The only reason that Steve didn't respond to the person was because he was annoyed that he got disturbed again and he didn't really feel like speaking to the person.

As the people went and got close to them, Steve blinked and appeared between Icy and Celine. He took their hands and the three of them all disappeared from the spot, taking the Thousand Snowy Albatross with them.

Seeing that Steve and his friends suddenly disappeared, the people were confused and looked around, as if trying to see if Steve was still around. One of the people suddenly had the thought that Steve was still there, just invisible, so he went ahead and tried to touch the place where Steve and his friends have been. Of course, he couldn't feel anything and only touched the empty space of air.

"Where... where could they have gone?" someone asked. No one answered him, as none of them have an explanation for that.

Then one of the members decided to call the higher-ups and report this matter to them. He told them all the things that had happened when he encountered Steve, and he did not leave out a single detail, or at least the details that he remembered. He requested additional back-ups to capture the person. After that, the person patiently waited for a reply from the higher-ups. After a few minutes, the person finally got a reply. However, when he heard the message, he was shocked.

The higher-ups told him to ignore the person and let him fly, as long as he didn't cause any harm to the people living inside the city or cause any serious trouble. The person was surprised and questioned the reason why they decided to just let Steve and his friends have his way and just fly in the city. From his perspective, if they just let Steve and his group of friends fly in the city as much as they want, people would start calling them and after a while, the people would think that it would be okay to break the rules and not follow them and do whatever they want. It would cause chaos and the system would start to break down, and it would take a long time to get everything back together, and time was not something that they had.

The guy could hear a sigh. The higher-ups explained to the guy their decision. They told him that they did not have a lot of time to spare and waste. They would deal with this if they could, but there were a lot of more important things to deal with currently than to waste a long time trying to catch Steve who had been flying in the city. Besides, since Steve could just disappear like that, it would be almost impossible to catch him as long as he can do that. They probably wouldn't be able to catch him anyways and would just be wasting their time. Even if they do catch him, they would have wasted a large amount of time doing something pointless and wasn't too important. So in the end, they decided to just ignore him for the time being.
